M104 full aluminum valve cover, SsangYong Korea!

Hello all M104 guys,
Finally found the full aluminum valve cover that will not break or crack in the future on my C36 M104 3.6!
Its the Korea SsangYong M104 cover!
In case others want to hunt it down, the part number is ssangyong 1620103630.

Yes. all Benz m104 valve covers are magnesium and they all eventually crack and leak oil. this Ssangyong aluminum will never ever leak. Its an old part. quite difficult to source.

Nice find! Thats a nice upgrade if I ever end up with a 104.

To the oil burners, they have OM602 parts too.

Although to date the only parts I've tried are an alternator and the valve cover breather pipes, all dropped in and worked fine.

Your welcome! the oem magnesium valve cover will crack and oil will leak. this is guaranteed to eventually happen. Not sure why Mercedes never manufactured an aluminum valve cover.

crack and leak oil ..."guaranteed to eventually happen". Not sure I agree with that statement. The valve cover on my 94 E320 with 336K miles has no cracks and doesn't leak oil.

I have owned three M104s over the years, and never had a valve cover crack, nor leak (outside of a valve cover gasket).

I've seen an M112 having a valve cover replaced for this problem. Was talking about it with the shop owner, he mentioned it happens enough that he isnt surprised when a magnesium valve cover car rolls in with that problem. Mercedes and BMW were specifically mentioned.

I personally have not had it happen on my own magnesium valve cover vehicles thankfully.

My buddy who is a old benz specialist. he says he has seen too many M104 valve covers crack and leak. So, he suggested if I ever can get my hands on Ssangyong Aluminum cover, get it!
