M104 [no] egr valve?

Help me out here. I am finalizing my refresh of parts on the 1995 SL320 Special Edition (euro spec). Most of the parts were original from 1995 and some were replaced, with Mercedes OE. (Car’s 3rd owned had it since 1998 till 2019 when it was deregistered and sat out for 4 years).

I can’t find the egr valve or block where it would usually sit on a M104. EPC says not available for my model. Did euro versions or at least earlier ones not have egr valve?

You are in luck, German specification (Not all European) M104 did not have the EGR system nor secondary air pump. I can tell you for sure the ME version did not have them, most probably the FHM version did not have them as well.

You will see a blocking plate on the side of the block just underneath the exhaust manifold. Also no swtich-over valves under the front plastic cover.
