m104 engine coolant drain plug

I'm doing a top-end refresh on my M10, 4, and the old coolant drain plug for the block came out completely stripped, compliments of the previous mechanic, I'm guessing. But the new one does not want to thread on at all. When I do get it going, you can see it destroying the threads on the new plug. The treads on the block itself look fine. I've attached some pictures, but I would have been surprised if the threads on a cast iron block were damaged, and I ran a pick around the threads to clear any gunk, but still noting. I know that the M104s have 2 different styles of drain plugs. I'm not sure if they have a different thread count, and maybe I got the wrong one for my car. But does anyone know the specs for the 2 plugs and if they differ?

I had the same exact issue. I purchased this drain plug (https://bigrigworld.com/valve-cylinder-block-coolant-drain-a6019970430.html), but I had to tap the block with a 22mm tap (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/oxygen-sensor-thread-chaser-lisle-12230), and I was able to fit everything back together.
