WANTED M119 ETA seeking late style plug

Hi all,

A replacement m119.970 motor I had bought this year came with a clean looking 1997 production ETA.

Only problem is the wiring plug was MIA as the PO had cut it off.

The early style pigtails price has rocketed and besides I already have a new early pigtail fitted to another spare m119 ETA I have on the shelf.

If anyone can keep an eye out for a m119 junker at a yard please I would be very grateful for one or two late style ETA plugs to be cut off for me and mailed. (Likely degrading wiring but that's 100% AOK)

I will re-wire the harness myself with new cables not a big deal and I've done it before. It would be nice to salvage this unit as a spare. Not really worth sending off to USA to be re-built etc just want to keep my investment low until I have it wired and see if there is life in it at all.

Note the late-style smaller/tubular plug would only be found on 1994-1995 USA model years with M119 engines.

Thanks, I misread and thought he wanted early. I have an ETA from a 95 W140 and was thinking about using one of my spare plug/cables to make it a replacement for either one of my 92s. Anything I should know about this swap? I could then send the late cable/plug to Joe. (2005 unit).

I've never done it, but AFAIK the two styles are electrically interchangeable. But the late style may have a slightly smaller diameter cable. Dunno if that will complicate anything.

:sawzall:

I’ve got a 2001 ETA from a 1995 E420 as a fourth spare. I’d be willing to let it go (entire ETA). Cable and late plug are fine.

I do need to keep at least three spare ETAs for my deep parts stock, and two M104 non-ASR ETAs for my G-wagen.

Thanks Drew - that is exactly what I did myself before and gave the late style plug to Doolar for a rewire. I created a thread on this I will post link below - check it out!

Thanks for the offer Gerry - if we do meet when I'm over there in spring maybe we will chat about that ETA. For now all I'm after is a donor late style plug so I can make good this one I have sitting on the shelf.

What I am most surprised at is you ONLY intend to keep 3 spare ETAs in stock :hornets:

OK. I knew I had seen that. Are the wire colors the same? I have a very good old soldering iron for detail work. Sometime after the holidays i'll make the swap. That will leave me with TWO spare ETAs. I'm closing in on Gerry.

Come on guys - some one is bound to be able to help with this - arent you guys tripping over V8's over there? :) One plug at least but to justify the postage 2 or 3 would be great. Eco Junk wecome too - all I need is an m119 Late Style ETA connector plug itself. (Snip it off the end of the ETA loom)

$20 for anyone who can cut a plug (or two) off for me and stick in the mail? (Plus postage of course) Keep any eye out at the clunker yards PLZ

Happy to send you a full late ETA. Do you want a photo?

Hi Gerry - thanks for the reply

I do have a spare ETA here which came on the replacement motor of my S500

I was looking for just a Eco Junk infested late style connector plug. So I can re-wire this ETA myself and see if it comes to life. Only to serve as a spare unit. I already have a spare pancake ETA for my 500E this is a spare for the S500 if I can get a plug to solder on myself.

When you say a complete ETA do you mean a full unit? I didnt want to buy a full ETA rather just inexpensively get a plug and re-wire this one myself

Yes. I have five or six of the late ETAs (complete), with 2000 or later wiring, and would be willing to let one go. Most are W124, but a couple are from W140 models (longer cable).

Thanks for the offer Gerry.

I am not in the market for buying a complete ETA just now.

Its just a plug cut off a clunker I require.

Still looking for this ETA plug - if anyone is at Junkers soon do keep an eye out please! m119 late style ETA plug - snip it off a known eco junk eta.

FYI, the donor can also be from any chassis/engine that has the same connector... including W140, R129, M104, etc. Doesn't need to specifically be an M119. That should open up the possibilities when searching. Just needs to look like the photo below:

Stick a fork in it - this one is done! (Found quite literally the only one in Ireland it appears)

This ETA will live again to die another day

He didn't want any of the three or four ETAs I had with this connector :duck:

As I said before what's the point in buying a whole other ETA for the plug when I wanted to re-purpose the one I had! Plus shipping for any ETA overseas is about 80 bucks so not worth sending an Eco junk unit over at that rate just for the plug.... but thanks for the offer Gerry

I now have 3x good spare m119 ETAs. But later this year I'll buy a couple more to bring that up to 6 spare which should do the trick
