Been watching videos of manual bell housing alignment/indexing may require offset guide pins for precise alignment.

Why do Mercedes manual transmissions not require precise alignment.

I do realize that the videos I am waching are for non Mercedes bell housings for tranmissions with a detachable housings.

Been researching tolerances and such. Amazed at how guys cut and weld bell housings. Even amazed at how guys create bell housing adapter plates without the use CAD software. Some guys have made paper templates,, some with metal and transfer punches. I would think that the tolerances might not be within specs using those manual methods, not sure.
