Mercedes Seat "helper cylinders" under the upholstery

@kiev @TimL do I have these right (if I follow correctly)

Grey foam 2 per seat - 124-910-16-75

MB cylinders 2 per seat - 126-914-22-15

Taxi Klotze 2 per seat - how to get this as the ebay seller does not ship to USA?
@Jlaa, try going directly to Kurth. They sell the Taxi Klötze and also ship them to the U.S. Also note that MB’s grey foam blocks might not be a straight fit for the 036 Sportline seats and might have to be modified/cut.

Thanks - do you mean this, which appears to come w/ 4 white cylinders, or are you referring to something else? Mercedes W124 seat reinforcement

Yup, that’s the taxi Klötze
Thanks! I will wait a little bit --- I am looking forward to see how your experience with the set of four cylinders + pad from KurtH classics goes ..... in contrast with @kiev's successful usage of mix/match from ebay/mb!

I forgot to mention that I've added "taxi Klotze" pad as well. There's also a video higher in the thread where I compared MB foam cylinder vs one from "taxi Klotze" kit.

I should clarify, I plan to do the exact same thing as kiev, as the Kurth cylinders are quite a bit softer than the MB cylinders. If I do anything different at all then it will be to use the MB cylinders everywhere (together with the Kurth pad and the foam blocks) to get to an even stiffer setup

Thanks. I eagerly await your findings!!! #nolugboltshaminghere .

I always envied my passenger seat condition, as apparently it wasn't used that much though the life of my car, and it felt much better seating and riding in it vs my driver seat.

I made a video showing the difference between my passenger seat, and my now refurbished+upgraded driver seat. It's noticeably and significantly firmer. After several hundred miles it (the driver's seat) still feels superb. No sore points after 1,5 hours session (longest thus far)

I thought I may share my experience after doing the exact mod to my driver's seat that Kyiv did. Seat feels MUCH firmer, especially the side bolsters have been transformed from mushy foam to nearly bucket seat style ones. After making 1000 kms I can say they it was worth of doing this, however now I would reconsider use of the pad from taxi klotze set... The flat part of the seat fells a bit like a wooden bench to my butt now... It is not noticeable during city driving but after 200km of highway driving I'm thinking about something softer... This is my very subjective opinion, I think that without this pad seat would be more comfortable and springy, if this word makes a sense.
The job itself turned out to be easier than I expected, especially putting the seat cover back on - I expected hell but it took merely 15 minutes. The hardest part was to remove the seat safely from the car - a helper is a must! These seats are HEAVY.

Lot of good info here, as I just purchased an ebay bottom driver’s seat for my E420,mostly for the better leather. Now I will have to deal with mission creep.Any how to’s on seat disassembly?

I don't think there's a HOW-TO... yet. Seat work is not super difficult, just very, very tedious and generally annoying. Be super extra careful removing the colored plastic trims, all are NLA and very brittle.

Earlier this year I replaced the seat base on our beater 400E. It wasn't fun, but I got 'er done in one day. Extracting & re-inserting the wires, and getting them routed/tied correctly, is a good part of the battle. Take LOTS of photos as you disassemble, you'll need these during re-assembly.

:duck:

Finished the drivers seat with new 1249101675 foam supports and 4 MB cylindrical coil stuffers, love the support! (225#’s)
Need the grommet for the phone wire, I suppose an aftermarket plastic grommet would work as you never see this with the armrest down.
Part # for oem grommet? NLA?
