My first BAT experience

The biggest problem with BaT and Cars & Bids is their reluctance to accept vehicles with a reserve. They don't care if you lose 10k on your car, just as long as they get their commission. I have seen several people lose over 20k. If you don't time the auction right or get enough traction with your listing, you can lose quite a bit of money. Your other alternative is to just not sell the car if the bidding is too low, then you will lose your account OR use shill bidders to drive the price up, but that does not guarantee success either.

Yup - Rik highlighted the potential risks and remediation. Lots of variables depending on what eyeballs happen to hit a particular listing. The ending day of the week can affect the outcome as well.

A relatively rare model, in a rare color, with long-term ownership are all good things to have. Current bid is promising as well.

This car wasn't being used and my local contact suggested I could get better results here. Carvana offered $5K (WOW). I've owned it a long time so really got my value out of it, so I am just rolling the dice. It's a really good car and someone will get a lot of good use out of it. Other cars I own I would have a completely different attitude toward. I figure if I get $10K or more it was a worthwhile gamble.

Car presents well and should do well. Capri Blue, Burl, P02 and under 75k miles... I mean, you're already over Carvana's number.

It's a peach for someone who wants a diesel. And nothing says "I care about my cars" like custom CocoMats.

100% correct. BAT want every car without reserve now that they have become very popular. Yes, they don't care what it sells for as they get their commission & another sale for their statistics. I would rather loose my account than dump $10K to a bidder who is going to turn around & put the car on the market at a profit.

Sold it to a nice guy down in AZ.
Overall it was better than I expected. A few loaded questions but they're always lurking. Funny how all the questioners never bid...and none of the bidders had any questions.

Oh, if you think BAT is bad check out Barrett-Jackson...
