Can your friend measure the vent tube? I was trying to 3d print them only to discover that Hella vs bosch headlights have diffent size hole for ventilation and I want to make exact replica of them.

Vent tubes should have been present on all years for the 034/036. I need to go look at mine...

Any chance you can post a photo of the Hella label on the box?

I´ve asked him to measure the difference between bosch and hella vent tubes, i´ll be back.
Dave, boxes are not from those headlamps, just some hella boxes.

Just checked my pre-facelift Hella Euros, they have the vent tube connectors installed. Weird that these don't, but not a big deal since they can be replicated.

Do you know if the internal parts (reflectors, mechanism, wires..) of Hella headlights are similar in all Hella headlights for W124. I have one headlight which lens clamps are cracked but inside parts and lens are perfect. Can I get non 500E Hella headlight and do case swapping or are there variations?

Assuming both are the same traffic direction (i.e., both RHT) the internals should be identical, with the exception of the 500E reflector has no shield over the H3 bulb.

If i´m not wrong, here are reflectors part numbers:

Euro spec (RHT)
A001 826 8278 Left
A001 826 8378 Right

Japan+England+Australia spec (LHT)
A001 826 8478 Left
A001 826 8578 Right

Only Low beam is different! So those Numbers are for low beams.

Low beam (H4) reflectors are different between LHT and RHT, but are the same between 034 and 036 (or, all 124 vs 036).

The high beam, or fog, H3 reflector is different between 034 and 036 (or, all 124 vs 036).

It is a different low beam graphic due to different fluting/pattern on the headlight lens. I've put up a comparison for the left headlight, and the placement of the circled section on the lens is the easiest only way to determine the difference visually.

LHD (left hand drive) --> RHT (right hand traffic)


RHD (right hand drive) --> LHT (left hand traffic)


So, when you stay in front of the car looking at the headligths - if that triangular pattern/section is to the right on the lens - it is also for RHT (right hand traffic). And vice versa for LHT.
