Pulled this ETA this past weekend from a W140 S420L in my local pnp. Intended to keep it on my shelf as a backup. Unfortunately, I didn't check my own car first and later discovered my car uses the pancake-style connector and not the plug-style connector. VIN on the S420 is WDBGA43E4RA165758. Has extra long plug cord as its a W140 ETA, plus the linkage attachment is missing. Would prefer to swap your pancake-style ETA for this plug-style ETA, but would otherwise sell this one for $125 shipped.

FYI... that is a non-ASR unit. It will work on 1994-95 E420 (or S420) without ASR.

Is there a date of manufacture? FYI it looks to me like possibly bad wiring early production. If so a buyer might have to have it re-wired at a minimum if not already done.

No, our local yards rarely see these vintage 8 cyl MB's so I was mainly interested in the MAF, and decided to pull the ETA afterwards hoping that it might have some value (heck pulling it was half the fun, never removed an ETA before and it wasn't as difficult as I had first thought, of course I wasn't really worried about preserving anything either). I had thought the '94+ S-class MB's all came with ASR but was obviously mistaken. Given its limited suitability, price is OBO.

The S500, SL500, and E500 all had ASR as standard equipment. But it was optional equiment on the lowly 4.2L...

I think it still has plenty of value for a non-ASR .034 owner.

We’re you able to get a date code or date stamp off of the label or surface of the ETA? To see if it was a later replacement or the original equipment ETA the car came with?

One easy visual rule of thumb, when it comes to ETAs:

- Green/white striped labels = non-ASR ETA

- All-white label = ASR ETA
