@szvook,
It may be the case but I’ve never been busted for it. I will keep my fingers crossed.:jono:
If I remember correctly, white turn signals in the USA are ok.... just "grandfathered" in. See below:

@Jlaa,
That’s good to know.

Thanks Jlaa

That’s a long article to read on an I-Phone but I couldn’t spot where I’m legal. No matter it a fix-it ticket. I still have my amber lenses if and when I’m called out for it.

Haha. Meaning, pre-1960s, blinker lights on automobiles in the USA were white, not Amber, therefore, white blinker lights were never illegal in the USA, it was just compulsory to manufacture cars using amber blinkers post 1960s. In other words, white is legal on the road, just not legal to manufacture these days. Of course, I could be totally wrong. 😅

Here you can get chrome look bulbs. Which light up orange so they pass MOT etc just fine but look clean / chrome inside the clusters

We use to have Ostram Chrome and Philips Silvervision available in every store, but lately, can't find them anywhere. Amazon has GP Thunder brand bulbs, that look and work well in clear corners

I believe white turn signal lenses in USA require yellow bulbs, or bulbs that appear yellow when illuminated, in most/many/all states?

The facelift USA lenses which are part white, part amber use yellow/amber bulbs, and the bulb holder is keyed to not accept clear/white bulbs.

:scratchchin:

I’ve probably been running the white turn signal bulbs since I installed the Hella turn signals. I can’t remember how long but if I had to guess it’s been probably 18+ years. I’ve only been stopped once for a speeding ticket in that time.

I don’t think I’m going to get called out for the turn signals. (Knock on Wood) CA has no MOT inspection. I remember when I lived in Louisiana they had a Brake Inspection every few years.

Also anyone with E-Code headlights is not legal. They are not Dot approved either even though they are a huge improvement over the USA Dot.

Just Saying

Terry, you might want to turn on those signals and see if they blink yellow or white... I have a feeling they might be yellow?

In VA at least, yes. These "chrome" looking bulbs do light up yellow/orange so it passes inspection just fine. Though next year, I think I will do "classic" tags and then, basically anything goes :teufel:

@gsxr,
No way they are white bulbs from my original amber turn signals. They are blinking white. I think I have a pic somewhere showing the lights on.

lol

Edit: Check out my avatar. I’ll dig up the actual pic when I’m in my laptop.

Dave, I found the pic from July 20, 2012
