Hi all,

Picked up my car after full paint job, looking excellent. All original colours and additionally, a new set of EVO II wheels.
I've been racking up the miles recently having almost reached 120k but now, I think it's going to be more of a weekend / special occasion cruiser than the workhorse it's been for the last few years.
The 'bronze' window trims were painted satin black as an option and I have sometime to complete some re-chroming of the headlamp glass carriers, if I am being very fussy. There's a place in the UK that looks promising for the plastic process.

Also, whilst up in the UK, the driver's seat was rebuilt, the starter motor overhauled (I never heard the engine spin so quickly before!) and whilst it was up in the air, I had the guys change the front wheel bearings and the steering pivot link.

Top run back, even at 36.5C max, all went well. Mammoth cleaning up last weekend after all the rain in the UK and now, the waxing - when it's not too hot in the evening....... Managed an average of 25.6 imperial mpg at 130-140km/h cruise - not too bad I thought.

I'll post some more photos when it's properly clean.

Re: Back in action

Well, got the huge protein deposits off the front of the car and gave it a quick once over - interior still to hoover out - but it's looking great I think.
The paint is glassy and has come up really well with a real even look on the plastic cladding which it wasn't before....

The front seats were fixed up properly - the driver's seat base was rebuilt and now feels much better. Both were Connolised back to match the rest of the interor.
I know the wheels are not officially the correct 'polished spoke' versions but I think the painted version looks better perhaps with the green paint. Whatever, they certainly fill out the arches better than the originals which have become my winter set.
The wheels were from www.alloywheelsdirect.net along with the tyres which were very reasonably priced. I stuck with Continentals which have been great, lasting well and giving excellent grip wet or dry.

I was going to change the rear screen as it's starting to delaminate but I'm rather happy I didn't in the end..... There's another 500 here that's had 3 new screens in 5 years with the latter two being warranty items by the dealership due to delamination! The one fitted now is just over 2 years old and is in worse condition than my original. Unfortunately, the warranty is passed now for him so he's sticking with it. Anyone else heard of these problems with NOS screens from the agent??

Anyway, here's to the next 19 years, or as long as the petrol lasts - gotta use it whilst it's there!

Re: Back in action

Thanks - I love it! Certainly the best car I have ever had.

Actually, the independant tech (ex Main Agent, as they all are!) thought it should probably be insured for €17,500 - does that seem about right in the current market?

Mine is the same but frankly I'm just living with it as I rarely have to demist the rear screen. Obviously misses a few lines when it's on but eventually clears.

Sorry Paul, I never got back to you regarding floor mats. Totally forgot till I saw your thread. In any case, dealer here in London can't source green ones anymore. Can't tell from your photos, but did you manage to get a set? We have the same interior, and I have beige/parchment floor mats set aside. Let me know if you're interested.

Car looks greats by the way
