Hello Everyone,

Finally got some time to post my car. This is definitely one of the most knowledgeable board I have visited. I have always loved the shape of the W124, especially the 500E when I was younger.

I was searching for an E500E in Toronto, missed the one for sale at a dealer (apparently it was a good thing), and had a look at the one All500E had brought to Toronto from Calgary. I was fortunate enough that, through a friend, found this one which originated from Japan, which landed in British Columbia in 2008. Based on Carfax, it was imported into BC back in 2008 with 109k km on the odometer. The car currently has about 127k km.

There is very little maintenance history on the car, so I am planning to get some of the repair list from this board done soon, although the car pulls very strong, AC blows cold and most of the things work.

I believe some of you may have seen this car as a "model" for two sets of wheels for sale previously in this forum. (Photos are thumbnails that can be clicked on to enlarge)

VIN # is: WDB1240361B698082

The car doesn't have much option, and no sunroof, which I find strange. It does has memory front seats and dual airbag.

A photo of it when I received the vehicle:

The car seems to be pretty strong. No rattles, and little noises. The car in reverse does makes a bit of groaning noises, so I may need to get that looked at. The car has what appears to be a Lorinser look-a-like exhaust with a cut-out on the rear bumper, as well as some Lorinser badges on the side and the trunk. The exterior apparently have been re-sprayed, with overspray on door jams. Interior woods have cracks and discolouring. The wheels that came with the car in the end was from a W140, with some crazy spacers on them.

I was able to find and refinish a set of correct 8-hole W124 wheels for the car:

I also found a set of square 17x8.5 et12 AMG wheels in Germany which I am getting rebuilt right now for next year. Here it is being test fitted:

I realize quite a few parts are NLA, so in order to source some original/used parts, I was able to find a lot of them through Yahoo Japan Auction. I have also remove all the Lorinser badges, and replaced the clear corners and side marker with amber ones (with the extra amber version for the front corners).

Here it is currently today:

Does anyone know why they offer the amber corners that is much more orange compare to the side indicator and rear lights? Or are there matching ones?

Planned work includes:

Replacing the "avant-garde" grill insert with original grill insert (thinking if I should paint the grill black, as I love the look based one someone's car in this board)
Replace headlights (one of the reflector housing seems to be in poor condition
Replace, if possible, aftermarket radio unit with original (will need to check wirings)
Refinish all wood trims (getting close to putting an entire set of wood trims together for refinishing)
Replace dash air vents (as the blades no longer move when adjusted)
Refinish the rear rubber strip (as it was painted in a gloss black)
Paint work to be corrected
Replace exhaust with original and replace bumper (prefer the hidden look)
Clean up wires in trunk (has original 10 disc Becker changer, and some loose wires
Replace wiring harness if they have not been replaced. (My mechanic advises to leave them for now as the car is running fine)

Hope to share my progress here in this forum and also pick the brains of all the experts here, as my technical ability is extremely limited.

Cheers :cheers3:

Re: Owner - SGxi

I was the guy who didn't end up making an offer.

Came with a friend in an Audi S4?

Thank you Don. Will keep that in mind if the car needs special services my shop can't handle.
