Proper adhesive for Trunk Seal

What is the proper adhesive for a new trunk seal to the trunk steel lip? Has anyone replaced their seal? Where is the joint supposed to be located - middle of the upper seal area under the rear glass or in the middle where the trunk latch is located? Any tips to a good factory install?

Thanks

The trunk seal is a press-fit with no adhesive required, as of about 1988 model year. Assuming your question is about a 400E/500E, skip the adhesive.

Only very early 124's had the trunk seal glued in place. If installing a new glue-in type, place the seam at the bottom center near the trunk latch. I believe the later press-on seal may work on early 124's but I haven't confirmed this 100%.

The 126 uses adhesive 3m brand along with the 3m all purpose remover. If you have questions on that Al send me a text.
