Reverse gear issue

Hi everyone.

This happens every once in a while so I'm not sure if it is part of the more common reverse gear issues listed in the forum. When the car is started after being left overnight and reverse is engaged, the engine revs up and down and the car jerks when you apply the gas. I've had my mechanic check the engine but not the transmission itself.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I avoid that in the morning with ambient temps at 78f by letting the car run till temp is reached to shut off air pump, and idle drops to 5k, then no issue. Still takes 100-200 feet for the shift temp to go out of second.. You could also park car backwards so you Drive out.

Make sure reverse gear has fully engaged before you touch the accelerator. Sounds to me like it could be a delayed reverse engagement, made worse when you hit the gas too early. If this is the case, your tranny is due for a rebuild relatively soon.
