Your new springs don't have color markers such as those?

Also, of when replacing rear springs links, you should do joint support bushings. One on each side of the car. If not replaced recently they are very, very likely spent:

Also, in my opinion, it'd be prudent to replace rear sway bar links and their bushings. These are not expensive

Sorry I missed the posts yesterday. The paint markings on the springs are for manufacturing use, and most don't mean anything. Due to mfg tolerance, springs of the same part number are either "short" and marked with a red stripe, or "long" and marked with a blue stripe. You CAN NOT specify which one you get, when buying new springs. You use a thinner spring pad with long/tall springs, a thicker pad with the shorter spring.

I would not buy new springs without first checking the part numbers of the springs currently installed in the car. Installing springs of the same part number is not likely to change anything except your wallet thickness.

:duck:

Hi everyone,

Just an update -- I went ahead and had both the front & rear springs replaced. We went with 2 pt. pads/shims at the front & 1 pt. for the rear. These were the same when we took things apart -- all original factory springs and pads were in there to begin with. Ride height looks and is A LOT better. 15 in. rear on the nose.

We also went ahead and replaced the rear control arms. All multi-links were 're-loaded'/loosened as well -- I specifically asked for this to be done.

Thank you to Kiev, Gsxr, and Gerrvz and everyone for their help & contributions. It was an amazing car to begin with and continues to be!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Just over 96,000 mi. on the clock :)

Looks great! Do you have access to the old springs? I'd like to know the part number on the lower coil for the original REAR springs...

Yes, I asked to keep all the old parts. Spring part number was Rear 124-324-12-04 and they had Blue Strips. The new rear springs, were "on-hold" in Germany and just came in on Monday. All work was started and completed Tuesday. I kept all the old parts. I firmly believe that when the rear multi-links were replaced, they were tightened/torqued in the air and that is why the car's ride height was affected.

Glad to hear you are satisfied. I still visit my mom in Michigan when I can. Let me know if you need any parts in the future as I have some 034 items.

That's at MB dealer... I'm afraid complete automation might not arrive in time and a mass of imbeciles distributed across the whole System will reach a critical point, causing an irrecoverable chain reaction.... Our current Civilization is just one slight sneeze away from Dark Ages
