Signal Red 500E spotted

Was it on monoblocks? I saw one wearing monoblocks in Laguna Beach about five years ago, but do not recall the color of the interior. I drove by an intersection and it was sitting at the light.

This car very likely would have been posted on the old 500Ecstasy.com forum, given the date that it originally came up for sale.

I have a records in my personal database of this car, going back to April, 2007. At that time, the car was located in Sun Valley, CA and had 123,000 miles on the odometer. The car was being offered for sale on the web site Cars.com.

Here are my original notations about the car:

Tinted windows, aftermarket Alpine CD stereo; passenger airbag; dash cover appears to have been replaced (?)

Later on, in December, 2007:

UPDATE 12-25-07: On AutoTrader.com, listed in Pasadena, CA. Seller says "Being a car enthusiast, I purchased my second 500E for my wife back in April 2007 and went through it with a fine-tooth comb and Q-tips. Although it was a very clean car to begin with, it did need my attention and TLC. Shortly after, my wife and I found out that we were expecting our first born by Christmas. As many of your know, the 500E is really a 4-seater car, with leather interior. I can't possibly have a car-seat and vomit happening in it. Besides, the 500E can really give the baby a whiplash. I am the third owner. The car was ordered by someone in AZ. A year later, it was bought by a Hollywood producer. It was regularly maintained by Beverly Hills Mercedes-Benz and never missed a service (all service records available). The car is very solid and fiercely fast. Ride is definitively Mercedes and handling is, well, it was tuned and assembled by Porsche- enough said. A fast, rare, already-collectable, Porsche-engineered sleeper. Some consider the W124 to be among the best cars Mercedes-Benz has ever built, and 500E is the specialist among them. I purchased the car with 123K miles. Just keep up with the scheduled service and 300-400K miles is very common on these engines (M119). This fine example has less than 126K miles. Signal Red paint (Special order from the factory). New (3K miles) Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position 225/55/16ZR. New Mercedes-Benz battery. No cracks on dashboard or steering wheel (common on most older examples). 120K miles service performed. Equipped with built-in radar detector and Lo-Jack. Very clean in and out- must see." Asking $20,500. Mileage 126,000.

In March of 2008:

UPDATE 3-3-08: Car on eBay, 126,000 miles, asking $14,999.

I am the third owner of this beauty. The car was ordered by someone in Arizona. I have had the car serviced and maintained at Keyes European Mercedes-Benz in Van Nuys, CA."

And then, lastly, in June of 2009:

UPDATE 6-10-09: Car on AutoTrader.com again, located in Huntington Beach, CA, mileage 132,000. Appears to be a different seller than 2008. Asking $19,900. Seller says: "Red, fast and rare! If you're looking at this car you must already know the pedigree of the MBZ/Porsche joint venture and the sleeper super car it spawned. This car was 1st registered in Arizona then moved to Southern California 1 year later. It has Hollywood producer history and has service records to support its excellent condition. Other 500E ads talk about the rare color, but this red example is truly rare and the most beautiful I've seen. The car runs great and is in excellent condition. Everything works like new on the car as it has been well maintained. I have a car fax report and service records for the last several years. I love this car and am only selling it to make room in the 3 car garage for the 4th car. Feel free to call me to discuss the car. This car was for sale in 2012 for around $12k (unknown mileage, unless Gerry has records). Think it's 180-200kmi now.
Spot on with current mileage. Carfax attached

It's funny how these records I downloaded and recorded even 17 and 20 years ago continue to have relevance for these cars when they come up for sale.

The oldest entries in my personal database are now 21+ years old (and this forum is 16 years old on November 30th).
