Unfortunately I didn't know it until too late!

I was driving the 500E the other day and noticed a shiny SL directly behind me at a traffic light. The windows were tinted very dark, including the windshield (illegal here, but apparently inconsequential to the owner). I kept looking at it because the nose looked a little odd and I couldn't figure out exactly what it was from the view in my mirror. The light turned green and he stayed behind me for about a half mile then took an exit ramp. I turned to look and was shocked to discover that it had been an SLR McLaren convertible behind me all along. I've seen the coupe, but never a drop-top. Beautiful car - I wish I had more of a chance to ogle, and maybe open it up alongside him just for fun.

The SLR convertible definitely looks better than the coupe. And who can argue with all that power! Still, neither looks as good as the SLS AMG, IMO.

Nice. But if you're not in witness protection I'd demand a refund from your plastic surgeon!

Chappardababbar and I saw a black SLR parked on a London street while he was driving me to dinner on Wednesday night. Almost missed it as it was dark out but looked back and confirmed it.

It was only the second one I'd seen live -- the other one being a silver one in a Orange County MB dealership when I was hanging out with Glen, Vince, Jeff and others a few years back.

Cheers,
Gerry
