Smartphone Mount

I've been thinking of getting a smartphone mount for several years now, but did not like the idea of sticking - either via suction or even more via glue - anything on the dashboard, windshield, or air vents. Nor did I like aesthetics of any of the mounts I saw on Amazon on the occasions that I've searched for what's out there. Recently I came along this mount. I liked the look and flexibility and I thought it might fit neatly-enough on the passenger side of the center stack. I'm actually very pleased with a result, so I'm sharing it here. If anyone has a neat set up, please share yours!

1. In my case, mount is attached via suction, so easy to remove. Gluing is an option
2. Neat and miniature enough to my liking
3. does not interfere with passenger space at all!!!
4. Easy to scan while driving
5. Can be mounted even higher in the same area, so it's a smaller drop of eye to scan the screen, but provided 3m glue pad is required is the surface is not flat enough higher up for suction-mounting
6. Arm and phone attachment point have wide adjust-ability, so no problem getting phone at angle to one's liking

I like that. Suction is the only thing securing it to the console?

Yes, just suction. If you'd move the mount a little higher on the same panel, the panel gets slight curve and suction no longer works, as the surface is not flat enough. I had it mounted in the same spot for 2 weeks without any issues

I use the Kuda mounts in my cars. They're very nice, integrate well, and appear to be a factory install when you see them:

KUDA mount and holder MERCEDES - E W124 (85-95)

You'll drop about $75 for one, but it's money well spent. You'll have to find some sort of mount at that point, as the Kuda is more or less a "foundation" for a mount. This is the Kuda mount in my S210 below.

Agreed. While the Kuda still requires a clip or mount of some sort to go along with it, it integrates beautifully into the car and doesn't block anything. Those mounts that clip on the vents make me crazy. I think they look shabby and will likely damage the vent over time.

Just my $0.02.

:plusone: Kuda has a single screw that goes into the passenger side carpet on the 124 and the 126. You can remove a Kuda and you'd never have even known it was installed.

If Quad lock cover is available for your smart phone, then these mounts are excellent. You can choose simple wall mount with 3M sticker to mount it at any place of convenience or use windshield mount.

I was using below mount right above center vent for sometime, easy clip on.

Inspired by @socal210 's Youtube video on the Rennline phone mount, I decided to order one.
For what it is worth, I found the magnet that came with the Rennline mount to be too weak. The Rennline magnet uses a 17mm ball mount, so I bought this 17mm ball magnetic ball mount from Amazon and used it with the Rennline base --- which ended up being much stronger AND smaller (less visually obtrusive) than the Rennline magnet. I like it.

Comparison of Rennline magnet with Amazon magnet:

Like with @socal210 's experience, I found the VHB adhesive was applied to the wrong side of the bracket, so I peeled it off and used my own.

I also applied genuine MB felt of the back on the hex screw so that it wouldn't mar the finish of the NLA center console vent plastic.

Hmmmm I didn't know about the Kuda! That looks slick. I used a genuine Euro MB accessory for my w210 that looks very similar to the Kuda (part number in the first picture). However, the only one I could find was the wrong color. As well, the Euro accessory is shaped differently for euro-market knee bolster. I had to trim the accessory, then re-paint/dye the vinyl the correct color for my car, and then reupholster the upholstered section with matching headline. I use it as a base for a Scosche magnetic mount (not pictured)

Nice job @Jlaa ! I might need to add that amazon magnet too, looks way better without any branding. I did order a Kuda mount for my w210 but it is a different style.

I haven't had time to mount it yet but hopefully will be simple. I would like to add a strong magnet underneath so its completely hidden but wouldn't mind drilling into it either since it should be fully removable.
