Tachometer out of plumb

Has anyone ever seen a tachometer 'out of plum' in the instrument cluster? My shop removed the cluster and replaced all the bulbs, but they advised me NOT to direct them to go into the cluster. I think they were afraid my credit card would bounce. :) I bought the car just a few months ago. The first owner took care of it before giving it to her daughter. Even though my car had a tough seven years with the daughter, I cannot imagine what it would take to knock the tach out of plumb. Any ideas? Looking for an answer to the mystery, and/or a solution to fix it. Thanks.

Hmmm... This isn't a W124 instrument cluster. Your car has a transplant.

Moving this thread to "Off-Topic Discussions"

The 400E/E420 Discussions thread is ONLY for items relating to that specific model of car, 124.034.

Discussions of cars newer than the W124 are largely outside of the scope of this forum, unless it is a powertrain issue with the M119.97x engines or 722.3 transmissions.
