I guess this is good news especially for Gerry since it is in his area.

The Texas Torque team http://www.texastorque.org/texas-torque-at-lone-star-regional-2013 from one of the technical schools in The Woodlands has participated in the FRC - First Robotics Championship during the year. This Saturday they went through the final games in St.Louis, and became World Champions - Hurra! :-)

It's really amazing to manage this with a low budget and all done on their freetime, compared to the NASA team with a much bigger budget and support, and they have competed along with 27.000 teams world wide!

I haven't managed to find any video clips from the finals in St.Louis, maybe it's a bit fresh yet. The reason for me knowing about this is that my cohabitants nephew, for the time residing in The Woodlands, is a team member.

Congrats to the students! :smiley_emoticons_mt

Yes the Woodlands is known for many things nationally, including its high school diving team. Most importantly though, known as the corporate HQ for a number of firms like Anadarko Petroleum, Baker Hughes, Huntsman Corp, Chevron Philips, and Repsol USA just broke ground on a new corporate HQ here last week. Also Exxon Mobil is building a HUGE new corporate campus of about 15 buildings just a couple of miles south of us.

Things are booming so much that my wife and I have decided to postpone our planned move to the central Oregon mountains by a couple of years, and we'll keep our home here as a rental rather than selling it outright.....

Cheers,
Gerry
