Tire Inflator Recommendation

Doe anyone have a recommendation for a tire inflator?
What do you guys think of the cordless variety?
Saw a Milwaukee Inflator that runs off their M12 Batteries, but I own M18 Milwaukee tools.....

I’ve had a 12v kit for several decades that still works today. It gets the job done but cordless is the way to go these days. About a year ago, I bought the just released Milwaukee M12 cordless inflator. It’s ultra portable and I love it. There are other brands but since I already had Milwaukee batteries it made sense to stay on their platform. I think I posted in the DIY tools thread.

Milwaukee makes a combination M18 and M12 battery charger, which I got at Home Depot, which works a charm for simultaneously (or singly) charging batteries for different tools.

The M12 tool that I use is this hand-held ratchet, which is invaluable around the house, and I also bring it to the wrecking yards. Saves a good 10-15 minutes in removing cam tower bolts for getting cam oiler tubes, for example. Probably would really help you Stevester, for when you find another set of those prototype M119 oiler tubes !!

I have the Kobalt inflator that is available at Lowe's, which is simple to use, pretty compact and does a nice job. It requires electricity from a power cord, yes.

Thanks for the input. Believe it or not, its not an easy decision on whether to go cordless or battery powered, now that I think about it.

Home Depot has the m12 Inflator on sale with a battery kit. Return the battery kit and you get the inflator for little under $50. As others mentioned, it is highly rated and works well.

I just got that, fuel drill/driver combo along with the ratchet that Gerry mentioned above for stating out my m12 collection.

I dont think you can return just the battery kit though?

This made me curious... I'm firmly in the Makita 18V ecosystem.... was wondering if they offered something. They do not. But there's a 12V version.

Why aren't there 18V models?

Sure you can. Don’t buy the online bundle. When you buy two items in the store, the promo will apply and they will have maximum return value printed under each one of them and are returnable independently. I did twice last week to get inflator for $50 and rover light for $45.
There were no stores within a 100 mile radius that had them in stock. I order one but to be picked up at the store. Do you think there is a chance I can still return the battery packs and charger? If I cant, I guess that would be my starter battery kit for the M12 line. I will then probable purchase the rachet off of amazon, it the least expensive one I have seen so far.

Online purchases are listed as one item in the receipt so it won’t be possible to return just the kit. In store, you buy two separate items, one gets discounted but they are returnable separately.

Are you searching for the individual items or the combo?

Look for these two items to purchase:

the combo, but I want to return the batteries so the inflator comes out to $50.
So what I think I am supposed to do is buy the $79 dollar inflator, and the batteries separate, then store will then sell me the two items for $99 and then I return the batteries?

Correct. Buy those two items, they should come out to $99. Each item should have a maximum return value. Put the inflator in your car and return the battery kit. See the receipt below:

Why would you return the batteries and charger? They’re a bargain at that price. These special buys/sales are THE time to acquire extra batteries. Then you can buy the ratchet(s) (or impacts, etc.) later as tool only purchases.

If you are already vested in m12, then it is a great way to get m12 tools for cheap. Otherwise, agree it is a good value for batteries. Also, suppose you buy inflator with the kit. Then to get another m12, it does not make sense to get another set of batteries. Hence, returning the kit to just get the tool is a good value.

how do you like the rover light?
I bought both the rover and rocket lights. Both are great but I felt I would use the rover light a lot more than rocket light. Not only it is great for car work, it is handy around the house and pretty bright; it is a slippery slope: once you commit to a battery lineup, easily to buy “another” tool.

That is what I am finding out. I am already on the hunt for more Milwaukee cordless tools !
I bought the tire inflator and batteries and I might end up keeping the batteries as those are my first M12 batteries..
But if I by another m12 tool and battery combo, I will keep the batteries with the least expensive combo kit

In my case, I have a battery for each tool I have plus an extra always charged so I never have to worry about waiting to charge. Probably overkill but I'm weird that way. I see your point though, given that I don't often use more than one or two tools at a time, I could share a couple batteries among the many tools I have.

Any recommendations for useful M12 tools? I might jump on the bandwagon. I mean, everyone else is doing it...
Deal sites* are raving about the stapler, rocket light, oscillating tool and the multi-tool. I ended up getting the fuel drill/driver combo, ratchet, inflator and rocket light. For others, I either have corded tools or rarely use them.
*e.g. Go to slickdeals and search for Milwaukee m12 for discussion.

:shark:
The ratchets, a car buffer.....depends on your need/want?
I am considering a sawzall that, I was told, with the right bit, works great for glass removal.
The multi tool with the right bit also helps in glass removal.
How often do I remove glass, not often !
When you go to either the Home Depot site or the Milwaukee site, you are bound to find something you want, but don't need that often...
:)

I charged up the batteries and tried out my new Milwaukee tire inflator.
I am happy with it so far. I topped off quite a few tires today.
There is no substitute for an air compressor, but these cordless inflators come in handy.

I don't think you are weird at all. You end up with plenty of back up batteries. The tire inflator is the only Milwaukee M12 tool I own,
I am trying to stick to M18, why, I don't know, I am weird that way. I got a great deal on an M18 Multitool so now I am one step closer to pulling the front glass of my 300ce. I could go guitar string style but I want to try out the multi tool and hackzall method.

I have a mishmash of dewalt and porter cable stuff. I don't know if need a tire inflator but as I have a 60 gallon compressor at home and one at the hobby shop plus 4 gallon tank, it's not critical. The last item I purchased was a porter cable 20v battery operated shop vac. It comes in handy for cleaning up cars that are not directly in front of my garage.
