TopGear Mercedes-Benz W140 S600 V12 sounds like F1 car.

There is a guy on YouTube that bought a W140 V12 and spent something like 10k on a exhaust in Japan, it definitely sounds like a F1 car.

the Price are korrekt.bevor 8 years a hved contakt with guy in Japan and he make me an offer for 5000€ per peace plus Transport and tax and fees here in Germany.
But the price are good the Welding is an typ of ART looks great.Better you hanging this on awall in your livingroom.
But the restfrom Exaust is only not stock or OE.also costum made

The M120 is a slow revving engine designed for low Rev operation. The F1 V12 exhaust note is only possible at high RPM, the rest of the time it sounds like a Vacuum cleaner : /

I would like to hear the M104 with headers, because the M104 and M120 have a very similar exhaust note. All these tuned M104 are running big turbos so I can't find a video with a NA M104 with headers.

800WHP out of a stock M104 block and Pistons:

@195910,
As a kid I had a 53 Chevy that I had installed a set of “Fenton Headers” made of cast iron. (Bought thru the JC Whitney Catalog for under $100.00 in 1957) and a duel exhaust system with “Porter” straight thru duel mufflers.

It screamed and was really loud for a 6 cylinder engine. But almost all 6 cylinder engines sound the same to me albeit somewhat quieter than I remember. I would expect a Mercedes 103 or 104 to sound similar.

Most old Chevy sixes owned by enthusiasts have what’s called a “Split Exhaust Manifold” That’s where they cut the stock manifold in half and block it off and add a new outlet for a second exhaust pipe to the blocked off side. They sounded similar to my headers but quieter.

As a 16 year old kid I had no access to the welding equipment so I bought the plug and play bolt on headers. Note that there were no CAT systems in 1953 which makes a big difference in sound.

Probably TMI already.:jono:

That is the one. No way any exhaust would cost that much. I suspect he inflated the price as click bait on his video. I sure love the sound of it though.
thats how much it cost for this car and engine, there are some other videos out that explain it but they're equal length headers and the Japanese guy was only one making them

They're yapping about the fuel tank size while the engine temp is almost in the red? :facepalm:

BTW, play the video at 1.5x-2.0x speed and it really does sound like an F1 car.
