W124.036 Class at a 2024 International Concours *If a sufficient number of cars register*

Dear W124 500E/E500 owners,

Not a GTG/meeting, but a suggestion to start a W124.036 Class at an International Councours d'ELegance in Europe.
If a sufficient number of cars register, I would arrange with a concours organizers to create a W124 500 Class at an international Coucours in Europe this summer.

There are a number of events around late August to Early September. The more concourses these cars participate in, the better it is for the status.
A W124 500 class was last organized during the 2016 Mercedes-Benz of GB National Concours d'ELegance, a well organized and memorable event.

Update:

There are only a few events we can participate in:

- The Tegernsee concours (Bavaria, Germany) has been cancelled and another event will take place there that is not FIVA standards. "Participants vote" sounds strange IMO.

- Concours d'Elegance Paleis Soestdijk (Netherlands) 13-15 September.

- Zurich Concours d’élégance 14 August. A local event.

- Classic-Gala Schwetzingen (Near Heidelberg, Germany), 31/08-01/09. Germany's only international Concours and has FIVA standards.

A Dutch photographer (Wouter Bregman) posted this W114 500E sometime ago on his youtube or Flickr stream, apparently seen at some German show. Would be great is someone could locate this car, would love to see it @ a 036 event.

I examined the details of two more event:
RÉTROFOLIES DE SPA 2024
Antwerp Concours d’Elegance
No suitable classes nor are they high profile event for this kind of cars.

I spoke with Classic-Gala Schwetzingen, suitable competition classes are available and the 500E / E500 Can participate!
As agreed with the organizer, we can enter not only special models, but also standard 500E / E500, I will need to provide them with details on the vehicles condition.

We usually need 5-6 cars to take over the class! If we get the number, then the class will be closed just for the W124036. If not, there will be other models competing (i.e other M-Bs , BMW).

I have started to contact several collectors regarding participation in the concours.

The Porsche Dealer in the Netherlands says the "E60 Limited" was sold at the auction. It might have been exported.

He confirmed it was traded-in !

As far as I know, the previous owner also had the Brabus V12, which was sold to Lithuania.

I am waiting for the 3 other cars to register, It should be a sufficient number together with other cars in the class.

I sense that some of the Owners/Collectors in Europe are concerned about their chances of a successful Concours, But its not about winning! its about participating!

Back in 2018 I did not win the concours, but was happy to be in the same competition class as a 1of1 Isderra 112I and a 1of1 RUF RCT .. neither of them won but are now +$1.5 Million cars !! The Isderra won Ville d'Este 4 years later.

There is still time, to register till the end of the week.
