Everything is going up these days including our cars... If anyone can find these for anything less I say you struck a pot of gold. To some of us that might be unaffordable but to some that is just pocket change. Another way to look at it is that some of the newer german cars have headlights that cost way more than what these lenses are going for and that's if one can even find these original lenses from MB with their MB packaging.

That was almost a decade ago...Do you have any left that you would be willing to sell?
I don’t believe that was the point of Gerry’s comment and it most definitely wasn’t the point of my comment. The point was that prices today have increased exponentially compared to what they were in the past. Demand and supply will tell if your pricing will find a taker. If it does it will mark a new high point. That’s all.

Thanks for the clarification and appreciate the gestures. It seems that our cars are becoming very expensive museum pieces with extremely hard to find original parts for them. Even things such as an OEM fan clutch which is considered critical for proper operation yet it's NLA.

I have many many rare parts that I have the price set at EUR 5.000—

Unfortunately I have not had many buyers for them. But I just decided to wait until the market catches up with my price. And slowly, it is catching up. This headlight lens listing shows that it is.

@elietristan I have a pair of NEW MB E500 Euro headlamp lenses for sale, but EUR 5.000— ……

Correct. At EUR 4.000 … that is probably more than EUR 50.000 of lenses sitting on that table ….. all of them made it back to the USA no problem and were shipped to their buyers (all in the first post of the thread).

Our cars are by no means a poor or an average man's car. Now a day's it's a prestige rich class status to own and maintain one in pristine condition.

With tongue firmly in cheek

I just got these from UK e-bay for £30 for my humble C126
But I feel they would be far more at home on a mighty 500E
So if any of you US based concourse kings want those vital extra
points at pebble beach this year I might let you twist my arm for $1000 !

In all seriousness the seller makes a valid point
people have cars for sentimental reasons, you could be very rich
but have a 500E because you always wanted one before you made your money

This stuff doesnt come up that often and if its what you want and you think its worth the money fair play
No one is being forced to buy them if we think the price is too high we can wait for a lower priced set to come up
If Mr Musk had a 500E and needed a new set of lenses to make it perfect , I dont think he would spend an
hour a night looking on e-bay for the next ten years just in case a cheaper set came along.

I couldnt afford them or justify the money but other people may be fine, you only need one buyer

My wife thinks £30 for the locking bolts was a waste of money

Wow, you are really high on yourself.
But thanks for telling me I don't deserve my car since I don't fit in the owners segment financially. :fu:
You are NOT cool. You giving me the finger is NOT cool. I was not agressive towards you and as a matter of fact have not addressed nor directed anything negative towards you. You don't like my price then don't buy it. No one is twisting your arm or pushing anything onto you.

You are a gentleman and I appreciate your message and perspective on things.

Fek all you pricks who raised your eyebrows to my sale of these a few months ago... You know who you are.
For reference, here's the prior sale:

:wormhole:

FYI - two of them in that eBay-link are for LHT - left hand traffic (UK, Japan etc..), and the others are regular 124 headlights. Be aware of this if you are looking for RHT 500E500 lenses/headlights.
Yep. Linkservkehr = Left Hand Traffic.

LHT lenses AND reflectors are different vs RHT. Seller is forum member masakrer (link).

masakrer has a single facelift E500 driver-side headlight, NOS, for $1550 USD...

Yeah, be careful out there, many sellers do stupid things like listing "300E 400E 500E" because they believe all 124 lights are the same. Hope nobody paid a premium for standard 124 lights.

:duck:

@500AMM which one is regular W124 ? Both look 500E to me. Take note when you see the link the first thing you see are other items listed for sale, you need to scroll down to see the listing I shared that already ended.

Mercedes W124 500E Headlight Left Side NOS, A1248204959 sold for aprox $1220

New NOS Mercedes-Benz Hella Headlight Right Mercedes W124 500E 0008201366 Sold for aprox EUR 1,600

Those are a mismatched set... first photo (driver headlight) is LHT, second (passenger headlight) is RHT.

As already mentioned in an earlier post above the first one is a LHT 500E headlight, and they are always close to half the price of RHT headlights.

The next one is a regular 124 headlight with a RHT 500E lens. You clearly see the grey shielding ahead of the bulb in the auxiliary lamp, and it is likely that this hasn't been modified to high beam as it should be, but still works as a fog light. So in reality you are buying a RHT 500E lens only. When that said - that W124 headlight bucket can be modified to work as intended for a 500E.

That statement is in fact important to keep in mind when finding regular 124 headlights upgraded with 500E500 lenses. AFAIK it is no mechanical difference which prevents a combination of LHT headlight buckest and RHT lenses and vice versa. Checking the headlight bucket PN is the only way to reveal that.

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of the beam pattern from a correct headlight vs. a mixed up headlight.

Yes, best to either hold the $4,000 price or as I do, INCREASE it to $5,000. These get rarer every year.
You know what Gerry you are correct 💯 and agree with you. I take that back and my price still stands at $4k. These are the correct Germany, USA lenses NOT UK, Japan!

I challenge folks to find a brand new set exactly like mine 😜

@elietristan
My post may have come off as criticism, but the intention was really to be helpful by giving feedback based on current market trends and most importantly to learn from those more knowledgeable since the 500E headlights are really tricky. Setting the correct price can be challenging, especially with unique items, and sometimes it helps to hear different perspectives to find a fair balance. At the end of the day these are your lenses and only you know what they're truly worth to you. I hope you find the right buyer at a price you're happy with. No disrespect was meant, and I apologize if any comments came across the wrong way.

Hello. Thank you for the kind comment! No disrespect was perceived and no need for apologies. I totally understood where you were coming from. I know that seller very well. He is out of the UK and works for an MB sales and service place. Many years ago I made the mistake once of buying a pair of his headlights only to find out they were UK/Japan with incorrect housings. Luckily Master Dave Meimann (GSXR) had saved me by teaching me right from wrong on what the differences are between the various types of lenses. I then managed to get seller to agree on getting shipper to return item and issue me a refund. It was a very close call and almost lost my money. Bottom line these original factory Euro lenses from MB for Germany / USA roads are VERY RARE!! If anyone can find them for sale then all the power to them.

Did I say something incorrectly Dave? You did show me the differences back then and almost lost my shirt on the wrong headlights!

Our cars have a lot of special and unique things to them from procedures to applications etc....Dave you are a walking encyclopedia when it comes to our cars and very grateful for your support and sharing your knowledge and wisdom throughout the years that helped me through difficulties when facing challenges with our cars.

Hey guys. I have no idea how someone was able to hack into my account and wreak havoc here using my account. I heard that I was not the only one. Please disregard any comments with price drops in posts. Very disturbing to say the least. And I have no idea why it says New Member next to my username either

Am I the only who wishes a classified ad can't be turned in to a topical forum about the state of a market for a product category where others can hijack said listing to potentially undercut or ameliorate the OP? We have plenty of "state of market" threads elsewhere in the forum for exactly this purpose. No?
