Not 500E specific, but interested in a black prefacelift leather interior. Willing to buy entire car as well. Thanks.

I don't have any for sale, but the Black interiors are the same pre/post facelift (MOPF1 / MOPF2), 1990 through end of production. Same seat leather, same door panels, etc.

Only color codes xx4 (Palomino/Saddle) and xx5 (Cream/Parchment) are different for pre-facelift (MOPF0+1) and facelift (MOPF2).

Prefacelift as in looking for this pattern seat/interior. 67ec0a14bcac21af69712de5_LTkLNn821UGg-OUYJVv28gslO5Vy2y87mJy4pZSI9KM.jpeg

Yes, lol. More rare than I assumed.
If you want one in good condition it will be even harder to find.

Why not buy new leather covers (old style) and install them on newer seats?

:klink:

I've never sat in them. Are they better suited than the following model? They look nice in black and that is reason enough to want them. Dave's idea might be the best way to go.

Drew, the earlier seats lack the extra foam booster which was added approximately with MOPF1 (1990 USA model year). The booster can be added, but in general, the 90-up seats are more supportive due to the added foam. There's no advantage to the early seats.

Also, the 1986-1990 driver seat base/motor/switch is different compared to 1991-95. (And, the V8 seat bases are narrower than non-V8.)

Restoring an important car - sometimes new covers won't cut it. I totally understand wanting original. Same thing I went through with my widebody restoration - it was cheaper, faster and better to find and buy an SEC with a pristine interior than any other option. Hurts to part out a pristine car, but...
