W126 Widebody 6.0l

Some "real" photos would be nice. Looks pretty nice from the small / weird-angle pics currently posted.

:apl:

Not the same car, but it is sad.

Nice JDM widebody and the seller was more than willing to deliver in the US. Thats 90% of the import process done. Have not researched 25 year old cars for import, so not sure how lax the regulations are.

this car is in the states already, I looked @ it some 5+ years ago when it was for sale in the DC area. Car ended up out in CA, dude who has it now bought it for 15K or less.

Needs paint, suspension work, it's NOT a 6L, just a 300HP ECE engine, wood was badly cracked.. showed years of neglect.
I figured about 15-20K to make the car what it is made out to be.

Jonathan

btw, just noticed the "Verified 6L" by running the VIN... BS.

That car did NOT have 6L torque and power.

Unless someone drops the pan and measure out 100mm slugs I wouldn't buy it. if it is a real 6L i'll eat my flip flop.

For $30k it better have a 6.0L DOHC. The photos show a SOHC, which IMO already kills the price by a fair amount. If it's a 5.6 motor I'm not even sure it's worth $15k.

Which widebody are you referring to? My previous post was concerning the blue JDM widebody up in Vancouver, which is now a total loss.

The silver car is listed as being in Portland.

Nothing can be learned about the AMG upgrades from running the VIN, that integration didn't start till 1992

If I remember correctly, the 6.0l motor was offered in SOHC and a DOHC configuration, plus the SOHC AMG built motors were available in 5.6l (punched from a 5.0l)

sure, you could get a 6L any old way you want. S/DOHC etc...
My track SEC is a SOHC AMG NA 6.0L, P&P'ed, more aggressive grind etc, etc..

Either way, this car did NOT have that kind of power, I have a clear memory of flooring it and being most unimpressed.

wasn't talking about the wrecked car, that's just a shame :-P

Got it. Pity about the motor in the silver car, its sure a nice widebody.

I agree with Dave though, for 30k it better have the DOHC 6.0l and if your correct, the SOHC motor in the car is probably just a stocker.

Never driven a W126 with a DOHC 6.0l, but have driven a couple of W124's with that motor. Very fast car, faster than my 500e.

the silver car Looks good, but it's suffered @ the hands of un-caring owners for Some time... Had that car been picked up by someone who appreciated it 10 years ago it would still be a Very nice car indeed!

The DOHC engines are a lot of fun.. they are quick and they have a mechanical/visceralness that the more M119 lacks after being refined/polished by the factory. I would have Loved to drive that BLUE 6L RENNtech w/ the manual trans, solid lifters etc, etc.. I'm sure that engine was a hoot:)

Assuming you could stomach that blue interior for any length of time :lolol:

Auction ad has been changed and now reads 5.6l motor. Shame its just a stocker, now the price is way out of line.

Guess the seller figures the 6.0l is only worth a couple more grand than a 5.6l, as he only lowered the price by 2k

yea, no..he finally found the thread on the car over @ BW too.

as mentioned, knew it wasn't from the time I drove it..Not nearly enough punch..anywhere.

@ least it's the 300HP ECE engine, could be worse, ie US spec :-P

He Says that the car has been properly repainted, wheels refinished etc.. Now some pics would be nice documenting said work~!
