ULTRA RARE full steel widebody conversion Renntech E43 Edition !! Shown by appointment ONLY : it's NEVER left unattended at the dealership plus I drive it daily weather permitting. Call Greg Arnold @ The Car Store of Poughkeepsie @ 914-456-1215 for availability & HURRY!! These handbuilt & highly modified cars were the reason why Mercedes bought aftermarket tuner AMG. Very few built (1 of 12 according to Renntech) and starting conversion prices were $100K on up to $200K+!! This is a ONE OWNER example AND started it's life as a highly optioned Sport model. "The best color combination" imposing and mirrorlike Obsidian Black w/ spotless non-smoker Black leather.
Extensive fabrication incs : Renntech steel wide body; Renntech suspension;$6000 model specific 18" 3-piece alloy wheels built by OZ for Renntech w/ matching Michelin Pilot Sport "W" speed rated tires; modified NACA twin outlet steel hood; one piece front bumper & FULL aero package; Renntech high flow carbon fiber airbox; stainless steel Renntech exhaust; Renntech badging throughout; wood-leather steering wheel; Bose audio w/ 6CD changer; Weathertech mats AND Renntech logo carpets; F&R built in K40 radar detector; Cold Weather Package w/ heated front seats; Renntech modified engine now displacing 6.0L 18-valve V8 including twin inlet carbon fiber intake box, cat back exhaust & ECU; chrome headlight & tail light bezels and finally EVERYTHING works as new!! Recent services include : Mobil 1 oil change, Michelin Pilot Sport tires, F&R brakes/rotors & lower front ball joints. I just drove the car 1000+ miles getting 25,9 mpg highway but it was a royal pain in the ass!! Why? EVERYBODY slows down next to you to stare at the car or wants to race!! It's rare that a car impresses me this much especially one that's 13 years old.
FYI : I don't care if I ever sell it so don't even think about asking me for a lower price. It's the ONLY one around and EVERYONE knows it. Carfax Certified & comes with a NATIONWIDE 3-months or 3000 miles service contract. NONE of my vehicles are ever "On Sale" because I don't OVERPRICE them like most sellers. I personally drive everything I sell and enjoy exceeding buyers expectations. Purchase requirements are : cash, wire transfer or certified US bank funds. Credit applications are referred to my local lending institutions. Shipping arrangements are the purchasers obligation. I can refer you to transporters for a quote. Interesting trades considered but must be present : I won't "guess" at valuations.

I've never heard of a 6.0L M113 either, but I suppose it's possible. If it's a "one owner" car there should be a receipt from RENNtech, no? Sounds like it's for sale by owner number 2 (or higher) and the attached AutoCheck report supports that. Probably need to either call RENNtech, or go see the car in person, to determine if it's really a 6.0L or not. Seems awfully strange that it would not be badged "E60" if it had a 6.0 motor.

AMG never built a 6.0l M113, at least not for the W210 that was commercially available.

It must be a Renntech item. But I agree, if it was a 6.0l, why is it badged as a E43? Sounds like a regular 4.3l M113 to me.

Strange, sounds to me like its an E430 with some RennTech modifications. I have heard of 6.0L M113's but they all started as AMG engines from the E55. Like gsxr said, why not badge it E60 like they did with the M119 versions. Weird!

I'm interpreting the ad to mean the car started life as an E430 Sport, to which RENNtech modified the body and suspension and then as a final mod, the engine was bored to 6.0 liters. But I agree, calling it an E43 is silly.

RENNtech usually leveraged AMG's work. If AMG never built a 6.0L M113, it's questionable if RENNtech did. Anything is possible of course, but I don't know if the 5.5L (5.4L?) M113 engine can be bored out to 6.0L... I'm assuming they left the stroke the same. (??) Would be nice to find out if RENNtech ever did this, or if the seller just has his info messed up.

:detective:

Right....instead of displacement bumps like in the M119, Renntech took the forced induction route. At least they do right now.

Would be interesting if a handful of 6.0L M113's were done back in 1999-2000, before realizing forced induction was the better (cheaper/reliable?) route to take?

Documentation would be the key.

Thanks for the link! So it looks like they did make 6.0L M113's. If the car for sale has a 6.0L motor, it could be the original owner wanted it badged "E43". RENNtech would do pretty much whatever the customer paid for, and if they wanted a silly badge, so be it. Anyone live in NY who can go take it for a spin?

Thanks for that link too, Karl! Interesting stuff - sounds like they had to reinforce the "open deck" M113 block:

Built into the price is a Mercedes M113 SOHC three-valve V-8 from the S500, heavily modified by RENNtech's skilled surgeons. Mercedes' new pressure-cast aluminum blocks can crack if juiced to more than 400 horsepower, says Feyhl, so RENNtech first installs reinforcing brackets to shore up the casting's free-standing cylinder bores.

The bores widen by three millimeters to 100mm to swallow special Mahle pistons; a custom forged crankshaft from Germany strokes the AMG E55 connecting rods through an additional 11mm, to 95mm. The dimensional increases bump the S500's 4966cc V-8 to an atmosphere-inhaling 5969cc.

Sounds like a very intricate job and when the e55k's came out, superchargers were the easy fix. Someone should check the car out!

I saw this car in person earlier this week, at Xaver's in Newburgh. It's got the full steel widebody as shown in the photos. The hood scoops have cracking / peeling and the hood will need to be stripped / refinished. IIRC the headlights have significant moisture inside and may need replacement. I believe the car is still available at the same owner/dealer, but it sounds like he believes it's worth a lot more than the asking price back in 2012.

Still no clue what's under the hood. Xaver's thinks it's probably the stock E430 engine, but has not yet driven the car, nor checked the engine serial number. I had completely forgotten about this listing from 2012, turned up when searching for "E43". If the engine is 4.3L it's a real unicorn - all show, no go! Brakes are bone stock, btw, which also indicates high probability of stock engine. Very strange.

BTW, it's now a 2-owner car. When the dealer owns it for like 15 years, I count the dealer as the second owner. Dealer bought this at auction in 2011 and has kept it since then. Zero registration records means it's been running around on dealer plates since then.
