Waterpump change

Hi,
I’m new in forum and have some questions about waterpump change. I ordered new pump, Valeo 506632. Seller said that it fits on 92’ 500E and i bought it. Removed old one and as he said, new one fits right on place. Just old thermostat cover and other lid do not fit, they look smaller. Does anyone know what new lids do i have to buy and have some part numbers for me?

It sounds like you perhaps did not get the correct pump, and maybe your pump is for another model of M119. The thermostat cover and top lid should be a direct fit onto the new pump.

I would return the pump and try to specify another model of pump that is guaranteed to work, not just with what the seller "says" -- he probably doesn't know for sure.

For a 1992 500E, the water pump you want MUST be equivalent/compatible with MB part number 119 200 15 01.

The aftermarket pump that will work fine is made by Graf PA0578 or PA578, or the Magneti Marelli 352316170696. I believe the HEPU P168 will also work, or the Behr 8MP376807-001. Do NOT use anything made by URO parts, Febi, or Meyle.

:update:

The pump you received is for the VERY VERY latest 1994 model year versions of the E500, with engine number 010205 and later (which is MB part number 119 200 21 01), and 1995 and later versions of the M119 as used in the 1995 E420, R129 and W140. You need to return the pump and get the one that is equivalent to 119 200 15 01.

By the way, :welcome:

It's a common mistake, and unfortunately a lot of parts vendors don't know any differently. So you have to do the homework in advance. Hopefully you can return the pump and get a correct one !!

:detective:

The number of E500Es that use the pump are pretty small, and only the very latest ones. If someone had a late 1994 or 1995 E420, it would also be of use to them (or a R129 or W140). I'd bet that probably 90+% of members here likely use the earlier pump.
