Will a R129 rear subframe fit a W124?

I'm getting mixed answers during my research, so can someone clarify if a R129 rear subframe will fit a W124? I know a V8 W124 chassis rear subframe is much beefier and is a direct bolt-in, but those are very rare and hard to find. I was told that an early version of the R129 rear subframe, along with the differential and suspension, will bolt right up.

I don't think that it's bolt in or if it is, it may be for certain years. The kid that does side work for me wanted the rear end from the 99 SL500 that I was parting for his W124 300TD. He determined that it would not work for his car.

AFAIK, no, the R129 subframe dimensions are not the same.

If you are located in USA there should be no problem locating a V8 W124 subframe. A fellow in Australia needing one wasn't so lucky. Have you tried car-part.com? A fresh E420 just showed in the Sacramento Pick+Pull if you have time for a road trip with some power tools.
