WANTED WTB: E500E catalytic converters

Hello all

My 500E has a genuine front section but the PO cut out the cats and welded pipes in thier place I.e. decatted.

I would like to reinstall OEM catalytic converters but finding it difficult to locate original ones.

Basically I just need the 2x cats plus the pipes to the resonator to allow easy installation (could probably even manage without those pipes if it significantly helps shipping). Therefore no need for the entire front section to help with shipping to UAE.

Can anyone out there help? Much appreciated!

Bill, I think you'll find the OE cats are NLA.

A friend here in the UK tried to get some about 12 months ago, with no success at all. Eventually he had the section of piping involved renewed, and the fabricator fitted some aftermarket cats, but (rather cleverly I thought) disguised them in covers which look very similar to the original cats!

Cheers Stephen, it's been a while mate hope you're well. The front section is indeed NLA therefore reverting to used units.

remember you can also use the 400e/E420 catalysts
So it should be pretty easy to source a good second hand unit

Are they the same PN - if so, then yes I am looking for 400E/E420 + E500E cats...

Yes, the .034 and .036 cats are identical. Crazy that new (OE and aftermarket) are NLA now.

Bill, I'm sure that sometime fairly recently, a board member here was advertising a new, complete, E500E exhaust? I've searched in Parts for Sale, and generally - but can't now find it!

Maybe I was dreaming!

Stephen, I'll search and try to find it. A member bought one recently (lightly used) so perhaps you're recalling that one...

Yes that used exhaust was my “find”. Not for sale though...

here is a 400e being parted out in the State of Washington, no comments about major components being gone yet

it does have a lot of miles though, don't know if that is a factor on the cats useful life..
