Hi,

I'm looking for two NLA parts. One is the chrome moulding on the front left wing lower cladding and the other the jack hole cover. I know these are really hard to find but I have to try at least.

captruff, David Hendy and the SteveSter are going to be your best bets for these used parts.

Naperville, and MOST other online dealer part vendors, DO NOT remove parts from their catalog which are NLA. If you place an order, it will almost certainly be cancelled. SOME dealers are good about updating their website after a customer order an NLA part, to prevent having to cancel future orders from customers trying to buy the same thing.

There is NO way to tell online if a part is available!!! NONE! You must contact a live person at a dealership (or MBCC) and have them look up the part number in Paragon, the MB parts inventory system. This will check inventory worldwide, and it is the only way to tell if a part is "available" for purchase.

EXAMPLE: Two sites linked below has updated for this NLA part to state "DISCONTINUED PART - No Longer Available For Purchase". The other 2 sites have not. Each dealer must update their own site manually. Some prefer to deal with cancelling orders and pissing people off, rather than take the 30 seconds to get their act together for a decent eCommerce experience:

https://www.mbdirectparts.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-cable-harness-1245403130

https://www.mboemparts.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-cable-harness-1245403130

https://www.mercedespartshub.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-cable-harness-1245403130

^^^ If you order from the links above that will let you place an order, yep, it will be cancelled. They do not have magic inventory.

I'll give it a try with Robert's (Ntrepid) help. Fingers crossed.

Could you live with a used piece? I 'might' have it.

Also, is the standard body W124 piece a close fit, maybe?

It is the same size however it is convex shaped vs. concave on the 036. I think it can be heated and reshaped. I'll let anyone interested know by Monday if it's possible.

Esteban,

I've just emailed you 3 leads on the jack hole covers.

Thanks but I just found one and also the chrome fender trim (or at least I didn't get my order cancelled by Pelican Parts yet). Anyway I'll PM you because I might be interested in a spare one.

I don't know how will they match my 199 because they're are made of gold or at least any other precious metal, given the price.

Thanks Arnt and Roger for all your help.

Good that you found the cover.

I was incorrect about the sizes being the same. The 036 cover is a couple mm shorter. I was able to easily recreate the shape by heating in front of a propane heater and bending the cover around some wheel spacers. I then had to trim off a couple mms with a razor knife. Unfortunately two holding tabs had to go. The fit is nice and i could even preserve the paint in the process if i had the proper color. My donors were pretty nasty. These would work in a pinch with a dab of adhesive.

I would be glad to modify any sent to me in your color for the cost of shipping. I will try to collect some in various colors for the future. I advise care in removing your existing ones.

The passenger side trim / garnish was not available from the Classic Center as of about 3 weeks ago. I am told by a local indie that no cladding of any sort (034 or 036) is longer available.

Really well done !

If anyone needs one, I have a spare E500E-specific jack hole cover available. This is painted in color 7700 (alto gray) that is appropriate for a 199 car, and some others as well. This is an original cover that was on my car, but got a significant rock chip that dinged the paint as you can see. It is strippable and repaintable. I think I ordered about 4-5 new ones at the time I got this one, so I have a bunch of factory spares.

These covers are NLA from MB. This one comes with a new MB white plastic retainer piece, never used. Also, the loop on the back side of the cover is not cracked or broken off, which sometimes happens.

Let me know if interested.

This part is specific to the E500E, and is different from the covers used on "pedestrian" W124 models.

How much are you selling this for, Gerry?

What do you think it is worth? I dunno? $40 shipped?

I have three NEW ones, factory pre-painted, and one USED one, per photos attached.

I got a set of four of them not too long after I bought my E500. Hard to believe they've been sitting around my parts stash for more than 1.5 decades....

These paint up nicely with a rattle can. I've done several of them for my SEC with a rattle can of 7700 color paint, and they turn out quite nice.

Hello Gerry, I‘d buy all four of them. Are you ok with $180 for all four? Let me me know and I’ll PayPal you the money (still have your details)

Nope. The three "wirgin" gray ones I have, are not for sale. Just the one that has the stone chip.

If you don't want it, please let me know, as I have another buyer behind you.
