• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

    Sincerely,
    500Eboard Management

OWNER - Jelmer

Thanks, Johan :) You'll see it next time in real life, right? Next year!

And no, Gerry. Seems mini-Jelmer2 is as stubborn as myself ;( Friday is the last day he can come on his own (i.e., two weeks late), hopefully before then.

Of course! Then mini-Jelmer will get a ride with big Jelmer in it ;)

Meanwhile (16-07 at 08:54) my son has been born, everyone is very healthy, thankfully, but it does mean ever further (temporary ;) ) reduced activity from me!

Hi Jelmer,

Congratulations on this happy occasion.. is it a boy or a girl ? I must send a card !

My personal suggestions for 500E-themed baby names (J/K :D) :

- Wolf.
- Hammer.
- Stark.
- Beast.
- Sammler.

Any other suggestions Guys ?

Congrats on your family's newest addition Jelmer !

My oldest turned 10 yesterday July 17th. Gosh how the time flies by...seems like they were just babies.

Now that's one high tech family .. congratulations on Gijs arrival ..Baby girls bring good luck !

But C# !! Noooooooooo :O

Congrats, Jelmer! Now you need to buy another .036 to save for when she grows up to be an E500E fanatic.

:gor-gor:

Thanks a lot, everyone! Sorry for not picking a suggested name; we wanted to keep it "old Dutch" :)

In a while, I'll be able to post an image of the first ever .036 with a baby seat *and* a child seat!

But worry not: he'll (well, THEY) will be introduced to the .036 quickly enough. New forum member in the making, I'll tell you!

See what kissing can lead to. Keep it up and you will end up owning a 15 passenger van!
As Dave would say, "don't ask me how I know".

Jelmer – congratulations with your new-born son! :D
I hope it goes fine with everything.

I know you’re not so fan of the Porsche 911s, but your little Gijs seem to have a indirectly kinship to the 124.036 via his Dutch namesake – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gijs_van_Lennep
Seems like a good start for him!:thumbsup2:

Well. This thread could use an update.

Two years ago I made the painful decision to stop using my 500E as a daily driver. Not only was it quite expensive, did I feel it to be a risk (you never know when something breaks), but it also felt "wrong" to use a car such as this (and in this condition) as a daily driver. The Volvo V40 wasn't exactly the right choice, so I managed to trade that in.

With pride, I present to you my new daily driver:

The 500E is still mine, and will never be sold (missus won't allow it :) ). It'll just be used for cruises and meets, though.

The reason for my silence is simply because I had even less useful things to say than before. I did still read the forums and I'm still active as a mod/admin!

Welcome to the "never sell club".That brings the number to 8 by "my" count.

Wellllll.... About that....

The poor car has been out of storage nearly a month and a half, and I haven't touched it. Every time I walk past it, I feel bad. I know it feels bad, lonely and left out. Because of that reason, I've decided to put it up for sale, as soon as I'm back from the mini-meet next week.

I simply can't justify having a car standing still outside so long. Putting it in storage doesn't make sense, as well. Then I pay at least €1000 per year, and for what? I know I won't drive it anyway...

So, a rather sad feeling, but still I feel good. It's the right thing to do. I'm going to search for a proper owner. One that will have as much fun with it as I did, for the last 5 years.

I thought you just bought the Tesla, and you're already selling? Oh well, I agree... right thing to do. That way you can drive the 500E more.

:124fast:

You aren't going to be quite as special without your 500E there, Sparky...
Tesla=:shocking:

Yeah! Besides, if you want "Insane Mode" in your 500E, just send the car and a blank check to Brabus...

:spend: :e500launch:

Don't do it! Otherwise you'll join the club of REGRETS :o

I see a barn in the first photo, could you not stick in there ?

That's the storage shed at work. Not mine. And even if it was, what good would it do to have my precious car stuffed in there? I'd still never drive it! I want to find a proper owner, who'll love the car as much as I do, but does have the time to drive and maintain it. I simply won't drive it!

I think that its nice to see optimism that there might be " a proper owner, who'll love the car as much as I do ". I hope your car finds it way safely to such a fellow.

Over the years, am fully convinced that letting any beloved car go would only hasten it's demise.

Well, believe it or not, but it's gone. Sold this morning for €17k. I'm feeling pretty happy; it's a load off of my shoulders somehow, and I know the new owner will take proper care of it.

Onto the next adventure!

That actually made me laugh out loud, especially because I've been teasing people at work with being "my minion" :)

I'm not sad, though. At least it'll be driven now, instead of rotting away in a barn. That *did* make me sad!
