MB Classic Magazine 2/2020

Hi,
The latest issue of Mercedes Classic Magazine is out. Several interesting topics like interview of Mr. Aufrecht and Mr. Melcher from Affalterbach. In Marketplace there are one spread full of E500E adds.
Mercedes-Benz Classic Magazine.
Wow. I am surprised about the asking prices in those advertisements. To me, as an American residing in ‘Murica, they seem absurd. No wonder there is so much arbitrage.

Jlaa, most of those are pretty low km's... adjusting for the odo reading, those seem to be not too detached from 'Murica pricing (at least from some dealers).

But the 213kmi (341kkm) Pearl Black car asking $40k USD? Restored or not... :ROFLMAO:

The Green one in Italy might be the value pick of the litter.
Given those choices, I agree, it's the most realistic number.

The "2500km" E60 is the car linked below, apparently it had a €10k price drop after remaining unsold for 2 years:

@Efraim How can I get a copy of this publication issue? Thank you.

You have to order an annual subscription from MB, in Germany. It's on the web site. It's not horribly expensive. They used to have one issue per calendar quarter, but I believe it's now only 2 or 3 issues per year. You can also order individual issues, I believe, from the publisher.

Thank you, just looking for this particular issue. All the AMG cars on these Ad listings I did research on earlier this year or last year. Glad I went with what I went with.

I love the malachite car - just wish it had a darker tan interior, such as saddle or palomino.
Interior code xx4 (Palomino pre-facelift, Saddle post-facelift) was never offered in the E500E, or any Sportline model. The 124 normally offered 8 interior colors, but only 5 were offered in Sport seating. Red, green, and Palomino/Saddle didn't make the cut.

The only way you could get this would be to have your seats & seat accessories (rear console box, etc) custom dyed, and transfer the rest of the interior parts (carpets, door panels, A/B/C pillars, etc) from a donor sedan with xx4 interior.

Ouch! and at what cost?

@Efraim Happy to buy the magazine issue from you when you are ready to depart from it. I just want to add it to my car's records binder for historical ( hysterical) keep sakes. Thank you all.

Indeed. My 'grail' stock .036 car is the silver/blue combo, altho I've yet to see one in person. I've had two white/blue S124s and loved that.

Is dying cheaper than reupholstering for seats?

Dying should be cheaper, but only works if you have good (or repairable) existing seats. Otherwise you'd want fresh leathers (not cheap) custom made in the xx4 color.

This would be an expensive swap, you'd have to REALLY like that interior color, and plan to keep it for many, many moons. Personally I'm not a fan of Palomino, but Saddle really does look darn good. Bummer it is so rare (hard to find donor parts).

My guess is that the hardest part to get right would be the color keyed carpeting. People always consider the cost of new leather upholstery / headliner and dying existing vinyl pieces, but it is rare that people consider the effort/cost of redoing the carpet.

YES. Ideally you need a donor car with the desired interior color, with good carpets and most all the other colored bits needed.

Many Palomino interiors are at the junkyards, but they are often in very poor condition. Saddle is extremely rare, I actually saw a '94 E320 with very clean Saddle interior at the junkyard earlier this year... but had no use for the interior parts. Months later, someone had removed all the door panels and some other bits. The car is long gone now.

Got my copy last week, Interviews with HWA and Melcher.

That one looks familiar, @036 ?

Website claims that car has sold. (!) May have been located in Finland.
Actually it is not sold, still available, but not any more in Classic Trader. The listing in the magazine was a surprice for the owner just after he closed the add in there. Yes, the car is in Finland.

Thanks for interest to my copy. I have a collection of all MB Classic magazines since 2006 where I'll attach also this one. So, it will not end to recycling bin nor to resell. Sorry.

You might get you copy from local newstand or book stores or a bit version by downloading it (should be available soon).
Classic Magazine 2020/2 (English)

In future the best way is to join a member to local offical Mercedes club where the magazine is one of club benefits.
Or direct subcription as pointed above.

I get my copy from the AMG OC membership, plus we have the club magazine with AMG specific articles and we have the AM OC calendar featuring club member's cars

Thank you that is an awesome collection @Efraim. I would be fine with the digital version that I can print once it is available.
@195910 I never got that email from the club when I first purchased my car I shared my email for that purpose. Can you please follow up? I am still interested. Thank you gentlemen.

Sorry for that, I will talk to Admin again

You may be able to pick up your issue from Barns & Noble. I just leafed thru this issue at my own store yesterday. I also looked thru an issue of Mercedes Performance which had highlighted many MB powerplants including the M119. They referenced the 036 with some basic facts along with a picture. I should have bought that issue even at $15.00.

Yes, ok did not know the book store actually carried it. I will look into it online maybe. Thank you.
