1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E
123k miles
Smoke Silver / Beige
VIN: WDBEA36E6PB838635

Originally sold in the San Francisco area by two previous family owners, nearly always garaged (home and office). I purchased this 500E in 2013 with 98k miles and used it regularly in the Los Angeles area until 2017, after which it was only driven occasionally. Overall, it's not a show-winner but a very nice example with its maintenance needs always attended to that can be driven and enjoyed.

Exterior
• Body: minor scuffs on lower bumper, small dent near right rear taillight
• Paint: all original, overall good condition with minor paint crazing around the fuel door, small clearcoat blemishes on the roof and trunk lid (dime-sized or smaller)
• Glass: all original Mercedes glass is present
• Bridgestone RE760 tires with good tread remaining

Interior
• Overall very good condition as a result of spending its whole life garaged. Never smoked in, no offensive smells, only the aroma of original Mercedes leather
• Gauges, switches and all interior features function as intended
• Cabin lighting all functions as intended
• Seating: all adjustments, memory position and front seat heaters function as intended; leather is clean and healthy with no tears, discoloration or significant cracking
• Dash is excellent, no blemishes, cracks or sun damage of any kind
• Wood is all in very good condition with minor surface blemishes to finish
• Carpet in good condition with no staining
• Headliner material is very clean, area near rear window is starting to sag

Maintenance and Repair
• Mercedes service booklet, stamped up to 60,000 mile service (from prev. ownership)
• Engine wiring harness replaced Jan. 2008 at 61k miles (prev. ownership)
• Serviced by 500E specialist Leistung Autohaus during my ownership
• Maintenance items replaced in the last 5 years/6,000 miles: cam seal, valve cover gasket, distributor cap & rotor, accel. pedal idle switch and throttle motor, neutral safety switch, radiator, coolant expansion tank, hoses, water pump (have receipts for these items and more)
• Left rear shock has slow leak

Recent Autocheck report (pulled 2020.11.07) available upon request.

Able to be shown in Los Angeles, CA area (I'm in Pasadena).

As a final note, here's my original thread on this forum, written just after taking delivery. I've really enjoyed my time with it, but have made the hard decision to pass this 500E on to it's next caretaker.

I really hope that someone on the forum who is in the market for a California car, no rust, enthusiast-owned, and looking for a car with good bones and a solid maintenance history buys this car. It appears to be very reasonably priced, as well.

We don't see ones this nice, come along every day.

So as not to derail this thread, I've cleaved off the discussion and answer to your question to a new thread, which is located here:

Thank you – I had always wondered about this myself! As you mention in that thread, it is only on the right side, more visible at certain angles/lighting on a lighter color (Smoke Silver).

This may sound odd, but little details like this move me closer to keeping the car – the entire story of the 500E is ever-fascinating.

Do you have any shots of the underside and of the battery tray area. Check your PM.
