FOR SALE FS: Three "Euro" Warning Triangles

I have for sale three "Euro" warning triangles for MB. These are the Mack Daddy accessory....essentially the same as large peacock tail-feathers when you open that trunk. Guaranteed, along with your gray trunk-light pin-switch, to reel 'em in quick.

Two of the triangles are the "exclamation point" triangles from Germany, and one is the "orange" with no center triangle from the BeNeLux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) region.

All of them are in pristine condition -- no cracks or cosmetic issues. You will need the "clasp," ordered from MBUSA (parts.com or your dealer), to properly install the triangle in your trunk.

Each triangle is USD $65, postpaid, via US Priority Mail, anywhere in the continental US. I will post individual photos of each triangle shortly.

The BeNeLux version of the triangle is as shown below, as installed on my cars. I like to be different .

See what a killer "one-two" combo that gray pin-switch is, with the triangle? And then the "bling" .... the blue NOS bottle. Gets 'em EVERY time.

The BeNeLux version looks good. Since Dbreid asked for the German version before I did, I'll settle for the BeNeLux version...unless you find a third German version lying around.

Since everyone seems to want the German version, I'll make the one I was keeping for myself available and use the BeNeLux version, which I have on all my other cars. So everyone will get a German version.

Here are the warning triangles.

One of them is a "Dambach" version.
Two of them are "Burger" versions.

The BeNeLux one is a gen-yoo-whine MB model.

The Damnbach model has a couple of scrapes in the exclamation point. These can be filled in with a black Sharpie.

If someone wants the BeNeLux model tell me now, as most of these are going to be shipped in the next few days.

All triangles will be cleaned up and wiped down prior to packing.

Put me down for one BeNeLux. After seeing it next to the German ones, I like the color combo and color subtlety of the BeNeLux. Is the one pictured the one that's for sale?

Yes those are the 4 that are for sale. That BeNeLux is sitting inside the deck-lid of my 560SEL at the moment.

I'm sure there will be naysayers here who will tell you that only the exclamation point triangle is correct.

If it comes down to that, I think I can live it. Btw, the Ms. has gazed upon the BeNeLux and the German triangles and she preferred the BeNeLux. The way I see it, its either follow the purists or what the Ms. likes on/in her "Pudge" (yes, she has named my car) and you know in which direction I'm leaning...

Next year I'll bring back 8 or 10 of them. I didn't know the demand was so high. Perhaps I can just sell a turnkey "SKU" with the triangle and the clamp, plus instructions and a template for cutting holes in the trunk lid liner to fit the feet of the triangle.

Initially thought I was showing her a Blonde moment video where the girl was trying to cool off the car, at which point I said "Watch it again closely and in full screen". She proceeded and with in 5 seconds, while trying to keep the wine from comming out of her nose, laughed out loud "Is she pouring oil all over the engine?".

To mount the triangle, it requires two rectangular holes be cut in the gray fabric liner on the inside of the trunk lid. And a couple of small holes for the clasp as well.

Look at the photo of my trunk with the triangle and you'll see the holes I cut with an X-acto knife for the rubber triangle feet to fit though. The feet then fit into pre-formed slots in the underside of the trunk lid.

On the wiki illustration of the exclamation point triangle, that's a modern style "collapsible" space-saver triangle with a fabric center containing the exclamation point. Makes it more compact but doesn't fit in the pre-formed area on the inside of the 124 deck lid.

There are many many designs of triangles in Europe....

Yea....not so sure about that. I would imagine that the ladies would take one look at that blue bottle and think that perhaps you are some sort of creepy anethesiologist...whoa, this guy just wants me to go under so he can have is way with me....strange!

I have had a German version and the clasp for a couple of
years now. It has been bouncing around in my trunk.

I have been to chicken to cut the holes and install it.

A template would be a good thing.

I can only imagine how many more babes that triangle will attract.

Sounds interesting, we used to have E420 W124 back to 2000 in my home country and car was imported straight from Germany , Frankfurt but it did have the BeNeLux triangle for some reason .....

Aha...I had a feeling I've seen a similar triangle to the BeNeLux before. The S8 Audi in the film Ronin, the Tunnel trap scenes, 1:16-1:21. I don't think the triangle in the film is a BeNeLux, but it sure looks close enough. I also like the bracket being used in the film to support the bottom of the triangle when mounted in the trunk.

And.... it's good to know that Audi drivers like to save that DM 0.75 by getting the non-German "Euro" warning triangle too !!

2Phast's instructions are pretty good. Some judicious use of a measuring tape, a piece of paper and a pencil will be extremely helpful. Also my advice is to remove the lining from the trunk for doing the surgery ... plus you can match the triangle's feet up near the incisions you're going to make.

No but when you have four of them in a bundle, the darn things get HEAVY! Most years I put them in a box with other parts, but this year I didn't bring too many parts home, so it wasn't a huge deal to carry them and throw them on the plane as baggage.

BTW I see these babies going for upwards of $100 apiece on eBay, so y'all should consider yourselves lucky to be getting them for $50 + prioritized shipping

Let's just say that Eric would never have one, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it...

Yes, but watch out as the trunk lid can slam just a tad harder. Not sure what it's like without the triangle but in my experience it's almost zero effort to shut it - just let it drop on its own from halfway. In fact, irritatingly, kids and women in our lives tend to slam 'em coz they just don't get it and why it's a big deal

Can't you adjust the spring tension by moving the spring hook to the next hole? I did this on my W124 when the lid became heavy after I installed a warning triangle. (I'm not sure SEC has the same trunk lid spring set up as W124, just wondering)
