Wow sorry to hear that, with cars this distinctive would they be trying to export them illegally? Or would it be chop shop type operations targeting cars like this so they would be trying to sell parts so members should watch for new listings?

Unfortunately, the footage isn't clear, as the theft occurred during the night. The police are actively investigating, and we are doing our best to assist them while also conducting our own search.
Cameras and no automatic illumination??💡

Given the rapid dwindling parts availability and NLA situation for these cars, especially the 036, I am pretty sure they will be butchered and parted out on the black market.

This is horrible and ridiculous! why???!!!
Who will actually buy stolen classic cars and how can they ever drive it or register it or???!!
baffling to a normal person....

truly hope you recover this or find out who did this.

They knew what they were and will probably be sent over seas..
Is there an international database of stolen cars' VIN's, which anyone can access, before registration there, to check if the car is legit?

I realize a fake VIN could be given, but would any local registration office, in whatever country, check if it's a valid VIN?

(Lots of questions there!?).

My guess is that the cars (sadly) may be broken for spares - which would not necessitate moving the cars abroad? (The sum of the parts is worth more than the whole)?

Check with the dealership what they want to register the car with MBNA as stolen.
Usually they will block the vin specific data files which will bring up a warning message in the VEDOC and parts catalogue.
This can also be reversed once the car re-appears and the case gets a happy ending.

I would believe these would be heading to eastern Europe, they are prized there...

I dont know the details obviously but this seems targeted
how could they get on a sea vessel? take the cars apart?

its a lot of work. Are there really big money buyers in Eastern Europe?

Take it to port, stuff it whole in a container... there are some masters out there that can strip cars very neatly, saw it on youtube a while back - it was pretty amazing
got it, it has be smuggled and trick all the export port shipping officials who inspect all goods being shipped.
I gotta say, its very very focused difficult job. Is it really worth it for $50k to $70k USD total?

very stressful, time consuming and frankly huge opportunity cost to do other things to make money!

Once the car is in Russia, you will never get it back. I saw a documentary on French TV and the insurers knew where the cars were but could not get the authorities to cooperate. A dodgy dealer was actually selling them quite openly

I mean, how much money can this really get? is not tiny money but it certainly is not big money to warrant such a project and work effort to smuggle.

i mean this cars are both in a boneyard or garage for Spareparts or for Acident reparing. And no outside from US.QA
From USA to Russia?? Never under this Circumstance/War Embago´.
And yes 50tsd + are a lot of money but into the hole car World are peanuts.Sorry .
And the 500e World is tiny and a long time ago this are commingh back to the surface.
The same as 2 stolen Ferrari from Gerhard Berger and other guy.maybe 30 Year are back.Or here in Germany Master KIENLE the 300sl Messia.
What happend with him.In this way i see the cars.
Spare Parts to Restoration and Value Increase for other Cars .
Bad Luck and very ´sad.Hope the cars have a Insurence and she is paying.Thats here in Germany also not funy. And goes
nur mit einem Anwalt und langer Zeit bla bla bla schrecklich.

I wasn't suggesting that these stolen cars in the USA were ending up in Russia, even though , once any car is in Europe it can turn up in Russia (even with any embargo). I remember in the 90's a 288GTO stolen in Germany was found in Texas, so it is quite amazing how some cars "disappear" only to "re-appear" on another continent......

sure and right but a 288GTO is a little bit other stuff.190Evo2 .But a normal 500e .This car is wrecked for spare parts .Fire or Flooded car.or chrashed
So you need a whole car .
We all must look a bit .for this area cars.Maybee we have a Hit
