Speaking of '90s Green AMG Goodness...

Good honest presentation without the glamour detailing, pics and vids. Cool car in '90s "money green".

Very neat color combo, rare engine, no sunroof, sweet wheels.

But the photos are really, really poor. Most are very dark, some are out of focus, and a ton of pics are missing. If you look closely at the one bad pic of the cluster it has DDD. No undercarriage photos other than showing AMG labels on the suspension bits. Dunno if the seller is hiding something or is just doing a bad job. Same dealer sold a 124 AMG Japan wagon (link) for $50k with weak photos and probably doesn't want to bother.

EDIT 1: Painting over the door handles... aaargh. I have a funny feeling this one needs a serious PPI before handing the dealer a suitcase full of non-sequential bills. At least the wrong headlights are easy to fix for a non-036.

EDIT 2: The service invoice looks fishy to me as well, as a peanut gallerist opined. Either the dealer is planning to get $50k for this car too (like the wagon sold in November) and doesn't car care about the $4k bill, or it was a fake/fluff invoice. Note there is no actual credit card receipt attached nor a "paid" stamp. My first E420 purchased ~14 years ago had a similar invoice that turned out to be fake... showed big $$$ spent, and turned out to be a mix of used parts and off-brand new, and not even done correctly. Since then, my spidey-sense tingles when the paperwork doesn't look kosher.

EDIT 3: This car is May1990 production, so it already would have had wood on the doors & dash. The glued-on wood trim in this car was typical of 1986-1989 models. Since this car came with Zebrano wood from the factory, I assume someone wanted it upgraded to burled walnut. And rather than source the correct walnut pieces (which would require pulling the dash & door panels to install), they stuck walnut on top of Zebrano and only swapped out the console/ashtray/HVAC woods.

Painting of the handles was common on AMG of Japan vehicles. It would be nice to see up close pictures of all four, as paint does not hold up well on these parts.

The additional wood pieces were also common on AMG of Japan vehicles but it could of been done by the buyer, hard to say without an actual invoice for the order of the car. Last time I had my hands on a set of these wood trim pieces, to install required removal of existing wood, they are not designed to go over the top of existing wood.

The exhaust is also wonky, its not the proper AMG exhaust for a W124, looks more like a W129 exhaust from the same time period.

A inspection of the inner fenders would also be in order, the tires look to be too wide and there might be rubbing issues going over speed bumps or on turns. Would be nice to know if the inner fender lips have been rolled (typical in AMG of Japan cars)

It doesn't appear so, but you'd need to contact the seller to ask if they still have it (and, what the asking price is).

:pc1:

I'll keep you posted. I expect it would have popped up somewhere else by now if still available.
