No affiliation, just noticed this in particular while browsing mobile.de, since it is in the colour I originally wanted my 036 to be in, namely Almandine Red.

Listed at 29.990€, which seems decent even though the description appears honest and frankly not very positive. Looks pretty good in the pictures, but that only proves that things usually do. Appears to have been owned by several of the DIY personalities mentioned in another thread here on the forum.

VIN is WDB1240361B538824

Looks a bit rough for ~80kmi, but not terrible for the price. Coolant MIGHT be the newfangled G48 stuff (can't quite tell from the photo). Exhaust system shows visible rust on the cat pipe heat shield, the catalysts are aftermarket, and the resonator is from a different model (possibly 400E).

And, it's already gone!?

Yeah, the condition vs mileage left a little to be desired, but according to the description it only had service records for the first few years, so who knows what's right or not.. I guess conditions can be a bit harsh on the Canary Islands as well.

But it seemed like a fair car at a (considering todays market) fair price, and I guess I'm not the only one who dream(t) of an Almandine red 036..

Yes Almandine Red has its effect on people ;) . It was the color of the press media car.

One thing people should know about cars (currently regjstered, sold there as new) in Canary Islands is that, although belonging to the territory of Spain, it will be considered as an import from outside the EU even if the buyer lives in a EU country.

Unless the car already belongs to somebody who was living permanently there when car was purchased - and then they move to Spain's mainland - taxes (as VAT among others) must be paid on registration in another country of the EU (even into Spain) for citizens that did not officially live on the Islands.

In fact, this makes the car even more attractive for residents of the Canary Islands.
It’s not easy to find a cult V8 Youngtimer there.

I’d call this a dream offer for any 124.036 enthusiast enjoying life in the Canaries.
