In 1990, the previously extremely successful Mercedes-Benz middle-class series W124 finally found its master in its own ranks: the Mercedes 500 E (later E 500). With their new limousine, the Stuttgart-based natives presented the real wolf in sheep's clothing. The Stuttgart-based company, namely because the neighbouring company Porsche helped to play in design and production. Dressed in only slightly more voluminous mudguards and a modified front apron with embedded fog lights, the 500 with its slightly lowered body is initially modest in appearance and not very promising. However, this changes promptly as soon as the ignition key is turned over. In 6.1 seconds, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h if necessary. The Stuttgart company does not once again make any compromises. In terms of riding comfort, his tremendous sportiness is not a drawback, as the trade press was sympathetic to praise in its appearance: “Friendly as a fairytale uncle, agile like a nimble sports car and still comfortable?
