No affiliation. Credit to @dreaming.haze for locating this. Gorgeous car. Wheels aren't my fave, but easy to swap. Bit of a stripper with no driver seat memory, no heated seats, no rear roller blind. Wouldn't be surprised if it also didn't have rear reading lamps or Sound System (not enough photos to tell).

Possibly has AMG E60 suspension. Curious what front brake upgrade it has... also what driveshaft mods were performed, and why. Taller axle ratio will increase top speed to near 175mph / 280kph. Absolutely LOVE the VDO gauge modification adding the oil temp. I've NEVER seen this before and would love love love to replicate it. Need to find out where the temp sensor is located, and how the gauge movement was added! This looks 100% factory and is so much cleaner than the Brabus solution, which looked cobbled & tacked on.

If you like the oil temp display, maybe consider asking at Väth? They are still up and running and who knows, their vintage car restoration branch might still have all the info.

Look here .Is in german but some pics is easypeasy to see.
I hope i can do this here so??

I wonder when the conversion is made by Väth.. I'm playing the idea that is it really so that you can easily add 100k to asking price if/when the car is converted to 6.0 regardless when it's converted. :scratchchin:

In business wise it would make sense to convert car to 6.0 before you sell it and add +100k for the price tag.

Of course you can always ask what you want but different thing who is going to pay those asking prices..

Thanks! Since it was registered in spring 1993, I'm guessing it may be one of the last couple VIN's. Can't tell for sure without additional photos or other information.

:blower:

If I won the Powerball and bought this car, the wheels would be top of the list to fix immediately upon delivery. Some BBS wheels look nice, but to my eyes, these aren't the ones.

:grouphug:

It needs a set of BBS Super RS wheels. Unfortunately its not made with wider setups (BBS focus on VAG applications)

What's hidden behind that blurry spot?

I suspect that's a vMax delete box which was available from an aftermarket company in Europe back in the 90's. Some old info is here. If anyone has a picture of this unicorn box, I'd love to add it to my website for archival.

:apl:

I have posted photos of my V-Max box in the past, and am happy to again if desired.

I also met with the engineer who made this product, at his house, many years ago. His main job was working on contract engineering projects for nearby Carlsson.

Gerry, yes please! I must have missed these photos previously.

For many years, VÄTH have been – and perhaps still are – a very active seller of BBS rims among their customers.

I’m not sure about now, but in the early 2000s, they used to fit similar classic-style rims on many of their own cars, from the R170 to the W211.

p.s. sellers location = 63546 Hammersbach - is just 50 (!) km away from VÄTH HQ

Do you know who bought this Almandin car?
I can't answer that question either - but the same car seems to be for sale again (and for € 50k LESS!)

Mercedes-Benz500
E (E60 AMG-Umbau) Väth BBS Klima 2. Hand

Almandinrot/Black-Karo
145kkm, € 0.12M, Alzenau-DE (Cara Automobile)

Vehicle Description

Mercedes-Benz 500 E (E60 AMG Conversion by Väth Motorentechnik)
For sale is an exceptional Mercedes-Benz 500 E, extensively modified and converted to E60 AMG specifications by Väth Motorentechnik in Hösbach in the mid-1990s. As early as 1995, the car received an AMG sport suspension from the Mercedes-Benz branch in Offenbach, before Väth upgraded the engine to a 6.0-liter V8 producing 381 hp and installed a reinforced braking system in 1997/98. This makes this 500 E one of the rarest conversions, transforming the already legendary sports sedan into a truly unique vehicle.

The car's history is documented: Originally delivered as a demonstrator by the Mercedes-Benz branch in Offenbach, it has been with its second owner since 1993. All modifications, maintenance, and inspections are documented by invoices, parts certificates, and TÜV reports. Most recently, a classic car appraisal according to §23 of the German Road Traffic Act (StVZO) was carried out in August 2023, resulting in historic vehicle registration (H-Zulassung).

The vehicle presents itself in very good, well-maintained condition, both technically and visually, with minor signs of wear (patina). A rare classic with a documented history and high resale value.

Standard Equipment

• Exhaust emission control system with oxidation catalytic converter (I noticed, after Dave's question, that an aftermarket EGS-93/KBA-16932 emission-reduction device for cat-warm-up fastening might have been installed around 2003-04 - see attached pics link on post below)
• 4-speed automatic transmission

I added translated text for seller's description on this 500E - also made a note there, besides cat-type, as to the EGS/WUR for getting E2-D3 (internal classes, only used for Germany, intended to reduce road tax on cars built before 1999):

Was this car repainted? The pics don’t add up. Door jamb and radiator pics are not almondine like exterior pic.
Terry, I think it's just bad lighting. The door jamb and radiator support pics show pretty close to accurate color. However, most of the exterior photos show MUCH darker than actual, closer to Cabernet/Pajett Red which is a dark burgundy. Almandine/Garnet Red is brighter.

:strawberry:

Sorry @gsxr, I’m not convinced. That exterior is way darker in all pics. The under hood and jambs are way lighter in color. More like @Jlaa’s car.

I will confess that I’m looking at the pics on my I-Phone 13 and even the multiple tiny side shots look darker. Maybe would look different on my laptop.

Sure would lick better pics of this car.

Yup, I see what you are seeing. The exterior photos are just plain bad. But, that does look like Almandine Red, a metallic paint.

Cabernet/Pajett is much, much darker and more of a deep burgundy (also a metallic paint).
Signal Red (Jlaa's car) is much brighter with a tinge of orange hue (and, is non-metallic).

Snips below are from the Paintwork & Upholstery brochure. The lower section with contrasting color is the shade on the bumpers and Sacco panels.

I thought the same thing Terry, when I saw the door jamb photo. But when I saw the other exterior photos, they were definitely correct Almandine Red. I happened to look on the VIN database, and that car also was spec'd with Almandine Red.
