1993 | Mercedes-Benz E 500

Are you ready for an exceptional E500?

Description

“The off-the-shelf athlete” was the advertising slogan for the fast W124 at the time. The development and production at Porsche are well known.
So straight to the interesting facts about the vehicle on offer:
Red! Not quite fire department red, but close. An E500 that you rarely see. In any case, we were really happy to see a subtle sports car in the not-so-subtle color!
The joy remained even after the doors were opened: we were greeted by the character of the car of the year. A look at the speedometer solidifies the picture. The mileage is absolutely plausible and the condition of the entire vehicle can be described as very good.
In addition to the basic equipment of the E500, which is already good ex works, we find an auxiliary heater, a sunroof, heated front seats and a sunroof. For security, a burglary and theft alarm system as well as a fire extinguisher are included ex works.
A little understated back then, but simply beautiful today: the customer didn't want the type identification on the boot lid either.
We sell the vehicle on behalf of the customer. Upon handover there is a fresh general inspection and a report on classic car registration.

While I love Imperial Red (582), and there were only 3 of this paint color produced worldwide... it looks pretty awful with the dark lowers. That appears to be Navarra Red (3521) on the bumpers/cladding, no? EPC says it should be Paprika Red (3524), EPC screenshot below. I'm not sure exactly what Paprika looks like, perhaps it's similar to Navarra? Note that in North America, Imperial was always monochrome, so this 2-tone with Imperial would be a Euro/ROW thing.

Imperial is gorgeous in monochrome. Anyone know if this is original as pictured? I'm curious if this got a repaint and someone screwed up the lower color. :scratchchin:

Odd option package... heated seats and stationary heating, but almost no other options.

Looks like a nice car except for the dark bottom color. I really hate the 2-tone look of this car! If I were to buy it the first stop on the first day would be the paint shop to make it monochrome. I’m surprised to see so little extra luxury items.

PS: I think the US was lucky to get fully loaded E500Es only.

Hi,

I'm usually not a big fan of red cars, but I find this one in imperial red with different color lower part very attractive.
Also the fact that it's not grey, cream beige or saddle inside adds to my excitement. Manual AC, sunroof, additional heater, heated seats,........
Everything I would need is there. I don't think anything important is missing.
That makes my 1991 300E 3.4 in pearl black with black interior look really boring. LOL

Here are all impreials.... I´m not sure if the darker cladding was special order, we have to look it up in VeDock.
Only 3 cars, all with black leather.

Correct Dave, as usual ))
We loocked it up, car has correct cladding colour, let say it is an earler imperial.... Later 2 have cladding in body colour, so Mercedes understood same colour is better.

Thanks for confirming! Just curious - what system are you using to verify the lower cladding color from the factory?

Hi,
Interesting that MBZ changed to a single color. I really prefer the early imperial set-up with the different color panels.

I wouldn't mind the 2-tone if there was less of a difference between the shades. The bottom is just a bit too dark to my eyes. But, all that matters is that the owner likes it!

:cheers1:

What is this that can been seen on background on one pic. W114 estate?

VeDock only. Same cladding colour only from C153404, and "our" car is earlier.

Ah, got it. The EPC shows the same thing (see post #2 above).

I'm curious what Paprika looks like next to Navarra. There are lots of photos of Garnet/Almandine cars with Navarra Red lowers, which is what this car looks like. I don't know if Paprika is very similar to Navarra or if it's lighter.

:detective:

I wouldn´t even think to start a discussion upon some pictures from different time, different cameras, and we all sit in front of different displays and we all have different eyes etc.... i´m out :crack:
