It's true that the GS driver wasn't as sharp on the tree as the Benz driver was but if you look at the E/Ts at the end of the video you'll see that the Benz was considerably quicker. This means that the Benz would have won even if it didn't have the better start.
This is a case where BOTH the Benz and the Benz driver proved their superiority!
