1995 MERCEDES-BENZ (W124) E500 LIMITED

KEY FACTS
  • An excellent, low-mileage example of Mercedes-Benz’s celebrated W124-generation E500 Limited, which was developed in collaboration with Porsche.
  • It is powered by a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, delivering around 322bhp to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
  • The odometer displays just 58,175 kilometres (36,148 miles) from new.
  • This E500 was originally delivered to Japan and has since been exported to the Middle East, where it is now offered for sale via the motor trade.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
  • Co-developed with Porsche and hand-built in the marque’s Zuffenhausen plant, the E500 features a wider track, lower suspension, flared wheel arches, 320mm brake discs clamped by four-piston callipers, and a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine.
  • This example is finished in Sapphire Black over the signature ‘Limited’ two-tone black and grey leather-trimmed cabin punctuated by dark bird’s eye maple inlays.
  • It rides on the correct set of 17-inch ‘Evo II’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, shod with Falken tyres.
  • Factory-fitted equipment includes heated and electrically adjustable front seats with two-position memory, cruise control, climate control, an electric sunroof, and an electric rear sun blind.
  • An aftermarket stainless-steel Remus exhaust has been fitted.
  • Accompanying the car is the original service book, a raft of invoices and paperwork, spare wheel, toolkit, and three keys.
Factory specification:
  • 009U: Special paint (Sapphire Black)
  • 241: Electrically adjustable left front seat with memory function
  • 242: Electrically adjustable right front seat with memory function
  • 249: Automatically dimming interior mirror

  • 441: Electrically adjustable steering column
  • 540: Electric rear windscreen roller blind
  • 581: Automatic climate control

  • 958: Special model (Limited version)
CONDITION
  • There is no known bodywork damage.
  • The specially ordered Sapphire Black paintwork is in excellent overall condition, with minor blemishes noted on the front windscreen, driver’s door, front passenger door, and antenna rubber.
  • Paint meter readings are visible in the photo gallery.
  • The car was detailed and polished in June 2021 by Mercedes-Benz Emirates Motor Company.
  • Small imperfections are visible on the rear alloy wheels, but the front pair are free of any notable marks.
  • Moving inside, the original cabin is in great shape, with only a few signs of use on the steering wheel.
  • No mechanical or electrical faults have been detected, and there are no warning lights showing on the dashboard.
SERVICE HISTORY
  • This E500’s most recent routine maintenance was carried out in April 2021 at 58,175 kilometres by Mercedes-Benz Emirates Motor Company, who investigated an engine cut-out fault and repaired the throttle valve actuator.
  • Prior to this, they replaced the coolant level sensor in December 2018, and renewed the radiator, fuel pump and fuel filter in September 2018.
  • In February 2018 at 57,097 kilometres, Mercedes-Benz Emirates Motor Company cleaned the brake pads and replaced the spark plugs, wiper blades and front grille.
  • Previous Japanese service history also accompanies the car.
SUMMARY
This is an excellently presented example of the sought-after W124-generation Mercedes-Benz E500 Limited, which was co-developed with Porsche and limited to just 951 units. This largely original, matching-numbers example would make a fine addition to any collection of modern classics, as well as a refined and rapid long-distance cruiser which is sure to catch the eye of any enthusiast.

Datacard indicate it is German-spec, with no info as to when it landed in Japan.

Headlight lenses are both LHT (Japan/UK), passenger lens is non-036, driver appears to be 036, but the driver H3 reflector looks wrong... what the heck is going on there?

Thanks @gsxr. Germany to Japan to Dubai explains why we hadn't seen it here. The light and what we haven't seen underneath may explain the somewhat light (IMO) price for the low odometer.

Being in Qatar probably didn’t help its value, however a $20k drop in value (last sold for $73k in Dubai, UAE, a few years ago) was probably a shock for the seller.

That said, the summer period is a quiet time for doing car deals in the region, at least for local buyers.

Now, hopefully there will be a local deal on an E60 I pounce on!

Wondering which of both gauges might be out of range:
- exterior temperature shows 27,5 °C
- coolant temp. at almost over 110 °C
A good reason for checking cooling system when next sales-ad comes up, in my eyes..
