Hi all,

I have recently bought a 2003 Renntech E500 it came supercharged but I am not satisfied with how loud the supercharger is. Any intakes or tips to make the whine sound louder.

Thank you

Hi all,
I bought a E500 Renntech supercharged and I want the wine to be louder, anybody got recommendations for an intake that’ll make it louder or some tips to make it louder?.

Thank you!

Your new E500 is a W211 chassis, not the older W124 chassis that this forum is dedicated to. It also has a different engine than the 500E.

Anyway - I'm not sure how you can make the supercharger whine louder. You could try contacting RENNtech's new "Classics" division and see if they would be willing to assist:

@Super_E500,
Personally, I think a louder whine would become a PITA over time but this is only my opinion. Others may differ.

lol
Over a short period of time... I've never heard a car with headers where I liked the extra noise... and that includes half a dozen or so AMGs and a couple M3s... noise out the back maybe, but noise under the hood???

Hard pass.

maw

I think the simplest solution would be to modify the intake. That is what you are hearing. The design of the supercharger might be the reason you don’t hear the pronounced whine. Whipple chargers are very quiet as compared to a conventional roots type blower. They are also much more efficient. There are some manufacturers who have literally piped intake noise into the cabin. As well as others the use the audio system to augment engine sounds. So maybe some tuner in your area could help you achieve this.

drive the blower harder you'll get more whine... :p BUT you're putting boost on an NA 113 bottom end. The engines Look pretty similar sitting on stands but I can tell you from tearing both apart the 55K versions are built to a Whole Other Level.

Try running it down the road with the air box off, see if she makes the noise your looking for, per above a change in the intake might provide more of the Sound you're looking for.

Is this the red wagon? We PPi'd that a couple years ago...

This bold italic section is the reason I didn't recommend changing the supercharger pulley size to get more boost and therefore more sound. I didn't want to be responsible for costing the OP an engine rebuild all in the name of noise.

maw

EDIT... I actually got more supercharger noise on my 55k when I went to a smaller supercharger pulley to get more boost. I consider that extra supercharger noise an unwelcome side effect and part of the reason I'm happy I didn't reach deeper into that pot.
