2009 E63 AMG On HaT for THIRD TIME !!

One thing I like about the facelift W211 is the standard braking system. I was never crazy about the brake-by-wire setup, although it works ok for most applications. 2009 added the next-gen COMAND / radio system with SD card slot & hard drive, which is nice.

This E55’s receipts are showing that the current seller put about $8,500 into the car over the two years he owned the car, driving the mileage up about 50% (6K) over what it had when he got it.

All receipts are from LA/Santa Monica during the time he had the car, so it’s pretty obvious the car lived there for the entire two years. Also clear that the Oregon registration is a blatant attempt to avoid California tax and emissions (as is typical).

Yes, there were a lot of little improvements in the 2007+ cars. I believe the 2009 COMAND head unit can be retro’d into the 2007 and 2008 cars, no?

One thing they changed for 2008 that I didn’t like was they removed the headlight washer button next to the headlight switch, and integrated the function into the washer/wiper stalk.

I believe the front brakes of the E63s (with the $$$ rotors) were upgrades from the E55, no? Guess I should check the EPC on that one.

Agree that it is a good thing that they got rid of the troublesome Sensotronic brake system for 2007. One less hassle to deal with.

Also, the E63 has a seven-speed transmission, an improvement over the five-speed that the E55 used. I believe it is even faster shifting.

I don't think the 2009 COMAND is easy to retrofit, otherwise I might have attempted the conversion.

E63 2-piece front brakes are a nice upgrade over the E55 single-piece rotors, but yes, $$$$.

I’m fortunate that the PO of my car had the $$$ rotors replaced just prior to my ownership, so I shan’t have to worry about that for quite a while. Tires, too, were replaced with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s with 2022 date codes. Oilpan was removed and re-sealed weeks before I took over the ownership.

Three reasons why I didn’t mind paying $32.5K, because a lot had been done and it was an “open checkbook” car with Mercedes-Benz of Owings Mills (MD) since early 2009.

Despite having a local dealership here in Annapolis, I’m taking it to Owings Mills (45 mins away) for some service next month — an open service campaign to check the sunroof bonding, and I’m just going to have them change the transmission fluid in the box and torque converter, as it is original. All other fluids save the rear differential were done last summer. This is because they have known the car for the past ~15 years.

there are 2 different trans oil for that transmission and 2 different overfill straws
The 2006 E55 has the ungraded braking system . Check all your pulleys with belt off .The stock ones are really weak and if the belt /pulley break you will damage a lot in the engine bay .one last thing when you remove the flashy engine cover take your time as they crack easily .
Btw some of the torque converters in those years did not have a drain plug

Another relatively short-honeymoon garage bauble.

It will be interesting to see how this one does, in comparison to the E63. My guess is that it will be in the same ballpark (my prediction is $30K, +/- $3K + final auction fees), because many consider the M113 to be a better proposition than the M156. Interesting that this one sold back in 2023 for $40K. I'd bet the market for these has softened significantly, as well

Irregardless of the engine preference (one can make a very strong case for both, pro and con), I do think that many of the improvements in the 2007-2009 "facelift" W211s tip the scales for the E63. The 2009 cars, especially.

Just LOVE how so many cars living in California have Oregon and Montana plates.
This E55K has up to $16K with three days to go. Very muted peanut gallery, so far.

Seems to be a reasonable price for the miles/condition, and no options (besides P2 pkg, which IMO should have been standard anyway). 2009 is nice for the NTG 2.5 system. Hopefully the 4 years in the rust belt didn't cause any issues underneath. Why put it on a lift and only post ONE single photo? Also odd the exhaust was painted black.

Pretty strong support for mid/upper $20's. Here's the top 5 bids:

$29,750 bid placed by Midas993
$29,500 bid placed by DirtBagLB
$28,750 bid placed by zachs7
$26,750 bid placed by cobblewell
$25,500 bid placed by Uvacarbuff
