381 dollars in shipping ?
Stefan - that air freight cost Tim refers to was for the set of spheres I bought from him. But I take it overseas by boat (surface shipping) with JetCarrier, so it will only be ground shipping in the US over to their pick-up point, and the total shipping cost should be a fraction of that air freight. The downside is that it will take 5-6 weeks until you receive the package. I have used JetCarrier for many years on dozens of purchases in the US and it works really well; you decide the shipping methode (air/boat), they do the customs, offer insurance, give updated shipping reports, unload at the Norwegian harbour and ship it to your local post office - and you pay one bill for all and just sit calm waiting.

Way to complicated for my taste :jono:Ive never ever paid that much for getting parts shipped.Last object i got shipped, was a mountain bike double crown fork..and i paid like 60 dollars in shipping. So i really do not understand where the 380 dollars in shipping comes into "play"...

Well, what can I tell you? I didn't make the number up. This is what the local UPS office quoted me for the spheres and I'm not going to subsidize the cost of shipping to sell these.

$380 is via UPS air freight. They are known to be insanely expensive. That's not what @500AMM paid.

Arnt, how much was the cost for surface/boat freight forwarding? I'm guessing it was far less.

:hornets:

The package with the spheres arrived at JetCarrier 3 weeks ago, but further handling has been kept on hold by me so I haven't got the bill yet. But let me come back on that.

A follow up of my post #22 regarding overseas shipping to Norway by boat. As mentioned in my previous post this is for a set of spheres I bought from @TimL, but they're roughly the same size and weight as a set of M119 engine mounts. Ground commercial shipping in the US over to my shipping forwarder JetCarrier was close to $30, and the overseas shipping became $30 as well. Due to the value of the spheres I chose a bit more insurance, $12 for that. Total shipping cost all the way to my local post office amounts to $72 - which is way below a fifth of the $381 air freight with UPS.

Shipping time is 4-6 weeks, dependent of how close my package arrives at JetCarrier and their next shipment leaving the dock. But air freight may also take 2 weeks in some cases due to customs handling upon arrival to Norway. When using JetCarrier the import duties/VAT are calculated by them and paid for by me allready, so the package goes straight away to me when unloaded at the port.

:woohoo:

I transported the remaining two sets of spheres to Germany last time I went there, so if anyone in Europe is still interested, then there will be very minimal shipping cost

Go to "Pirate shipping " & open an account. They ship with UPS, & the charge is a fraction of what they charge if you go to a UPS office. I went to a UPS office in Florida once to ship to France & they quoted $256, I went to Pirate shipping & it was $65 for the SAME service. Also at the UPS office the girl did not have a clue about filling in the customs declaration, she couldn't be bothered. One of the other staff at the same location told be about Pirate shipping.
