While I certainly understand the desire to do `things like the factory and keep stuff original as much as possible...
Given:
—Only the sensor wires are subject to deterioration, not the power cable;
—New lower harness somewhat of a PITA to install;
—Effort possibly being spent to ensure better heat protection (before reinstalling following the original pathway!);
—Availability problematic for 400E420;
—Cost (likely) out-of-line with actual value of the harness IMO;
—Electrons will follow copper wire whatever (new) path the wire takes...
Why would’t someone not overly concerned with slavish originality:
—Cut the 4 thin sensor wires flush with the original harness, leaving it in place with it’s starter/alt connections intact,
—Using new or recycled connectors, make new individual wires stout enough and long enough to invisibly re-route them however you like around the periphery of the engine bay, and reconnect. Pair and sheath as desired.
—wrap the retained +cable as much as cosmetically desired.
That’s what I’d do, and neither my engine nor anyone else would ever know...
