Seller is Robert Fenton, who also has some other miscellaneous hard-to-find parts, like reman MAF's for ~$900 and 036 lower harnesses...

Yep, that's one of the badges that Robert had. He used to have 5-6 of them.

Again, note the MB packaging, label and shrinkwrap, and the black line that the repop badges that were being hawked on this forum DID NOT HAVE ANY OF.

Correct, here are 2no further examples of gen-u-whine 500E badges. The 2000 dated badge has shrink wrap. The 2010 production date badge has loose packing.

2010 item purchased by me from Belfast MB dealer at the time. 2000 badge is from ebay and came with the MB of Beaconsfield dealer label.

Both have MB card below them and the same white adhesive backing paper with the same slots cut in it.

Robert has a bunch of rare Benz, BMW and Porsche parts listed on eBay now, including a pair of e500e transmissions. One of which is a factory reconditioned one.. He also has the original short block out of my car listed for sale. Still scratching my head over that one...

Whaa...? Do you know why your original engine was removed, or what engine was installed?

Seems he was able to keep a bunch of stuff away from the bankruptcy auction.

I did a pretty huge mechanical and aesthetic refurb on my car that was conducted by Robert. Among the many things done, was the purchase of the NOS r dot short block he had had in his stash for many years. That is what is in my car now.... It's referenced in my owner thread..

I swapped texts with Robert earlier this week and he confirmed that he has found new space to house what seems to be a still large stash of unique parts.

Oooo. I wonder what other 500E-related goodies he has laying around.

I always keep the original engine block with the car if for any reason the motor needs changing. Especially for a car like a 500E which in my opinion justifies keeping it original.

Eg, if I went to buy a 500E say ten years from now for £50kGBP(?) I would be put off if it was missing its original motor.

Should have kept the block tucked away in corner of your garage IMO. Will read your thread also to see what happened to it.

I appreciate your comments and went down that emotional road thoroughly. The truth for me is that none of these cars with high mileage are original in the truest sense. The small block Robert had that is in my car may be the only one of it's kind, it may not be. Once I decided to paint the car, replace the suspension, the exhaust, all of the lighting, redo the wood, portions of the vinyl and leather, trim pieces, portions of the glass work, etc...it was obvious that nothing of substance on my car would be original. And when the opportunity struck to aquire an untouched small block built at the same time, on the same line as when our cars were built, untouched, well....it was intriguing. It was intriguing to have perhaps the only 500E that could legitimately lay claim to having an "as new" sensation to it once built properly. But I agree, keeping the original block would be ideal for the meticulous collector who one day might seek something like what I've done with my car, but I didn't do my build for that person. Maybe I should have...I don't know. How original is any car that's had all of its internals reground, re-profiled, polished etc. My short block hasn't been touched by anyone aside from the engine makers at Mercedes Benz many years ago. Again, I'm sure I am missing lots of important points, but I know that I adore my car and every step taken to make it whatever it is and for now, that's a good thing.

If this keeps up once we get our group buy emblems I will list a few of them for $1000 each with an 85% discount for 500eboard forum members who’s membership can be confirmed to date back to the time the group buy was hatched.

My E60 needs new wheels so no frowning….
