    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

500e catalytic converter

The E500E catalyst pipe is NOT the same as 500SL/SL500. E500E cats are the same as W124 400E and E420 only.

You can remove or bypass for off-road use, or if legal where you live. The engine management systems don't care if cats are present or not.

What about Japanese market cars, with their exhaust temperature sensor?

LOL. Good point, but the engine management still doesn't care... the post-cat temp sensor on Japan-market cars just turns on an idiot light on the dash. Kinda like the brake pad wear sensor doesn't affect ABS or ASR.

:banana2:

Whats the point of the Japan Market post Cat sensor, if it did turn on the idiot light, what would be the worry?

The EXH TMEP idiot light over there would be similar to the Check Engine Light Panic experienced in USA.

I suppose it would notify the driver that they should back off WOT, or check for excess fuel dumped into the exhaust?
