500E Color Combinations

Have owned my 1992 500E since new. Its Crystal Green, darker green cladding, with a parchment interior (now about 60K miles). The 500E has been the only keeper over among 14 new Merc's, or BMW's, and a few Porches over the past 30 years. I have never seen one in my color combo in all those years in person or in pictures. Any way to tell how many in this color came to the U.S.? At the time I bought it there were only 2 unspoken-for cars in the country. This Crystal Green and a Silver, I knew the Silver was a more popular color , but I had a Silver 300E and I saw a 190E in the color combination and really liked it. Does an offbeat color significantly diminish its value?

I agree with Dario. The original poster needs to contribute more. Having bought his 92 brand new, he may have answers to a lot of the questions we have as far as ordering, options, etc.

Well, it isn't easy being GREEN..... Welcome from an also rare cousin (but not as rare as you)

Will try to take pics when it stops raining. I don't do any work on the car myself and have limited knowledge to contribute. I have tried to scrupulously maintain the car over the years. If any one wants to check dealer prices for parts and labor, I have records from local MB dealership on many of the usual repairs done (harness, plug wires, tie rods, shock absorbers etc.), and some not so common repairs like speedometer cluster replacement, oil level sensor and complete replacement of all air conditioner parts (about a $7k job). I'd be happy to email or post a pdf of particular work orders if anyone is interested. P.S. that's the color I'll try for better pics.

Beautiful color! Please do post some pictures when you can. The lower cladding on the car in the picture is color matched because it is a 94 model. Your car will have a combination that I doubt anyone has seen. The color does not diminish the value and may indeed add to the value due to the rarity.

Although none of my past specialty cars were purchased new I sold them all as well. I have no plans to sell my 500E. One of those past cars was an 1985 911. It was very close in color to your 500E. (You may remember the Porsche color). Porsche buyers tend to look for "sportier" colors that reflect the marques racing heritage where E500E owners seem to like the classy and unique colors just as much as black, silver, white, etc. as evidenced by the comments here through the years.
